January 28, 2008... TIGERS BACK ON TRACK AFTER DEFEATING TERRIERS 3-1 After a disappointing loss the night before the Streetsville Tigers returned to action Monday night against the last place Mississauga Terriers. Despite their position in the standings the Terriers have proven to be a formidable opponent for many of the top teams in the division and sooooo....well the Terriers came out fighting and were rewarded with the 1st goal of the game. Play on the ice actually was very competitive with both teams having many chances to score. After getting over the intial scare the Tigers got down to business 3 miuntes after falling behind when Jace McGrath buried the rebound after David Johnston fired the puck from the point. Conor Clark help keep the score close with a ssteady effort between the pipes. The score at the end of the 1st period was 1-1 In the 2nd period Dustin Hayward scored on a strong 2nd effort to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. With 59 seconds left David Johnston hammered a rocket from the point, increasing the lead to 2 goals and making the final score 3-1. With that win the Tigers strengthened their 3rd place position but it is still too close. The Tigers now have another huge game on Thursday against the league leading Jets. |
