January 27, 2008... TIGERS HANDED A FRUSTRATING LOSS In yet another important "4" point game our Tigers were defeated by the 2nd place Vaughan Panthers 3-2. What was aniticipated to be a an exciting 3rd period turned into a frustrating affair for many reasons the least of which was due to some questionable calls from the officials on the ice. Unfortunate that the deciding goals were due to penalties to our Tigers however we fought to the end with determination. Dustin Hayward played another strong game scoring for Tigers. After going down 3-1 in the 3rd the Tigers fought back with tenacity and Hayward scored goal number 2. The Panther goalie was the difference near the end making several good saves. Tigers players were visibly anxious to get on the ice to get a chance at the tieing goal. On one play near the end of the game David Canavan made an end to end rush and broke through the defense on sheer determination only to be stopped by the goaltender. As the final seconds ticked down it was evident that the Tigers remained hungry for at least a tie but unfortunately couldn't finish. With that loss the Tigers are now 3 points behind the Panthers but remain in 3rd place, but just barely ahead of the Huskies and Royals. Next game Monday night against the Terriers who gave the Jets a scare in their last game losing by only 1 goal to the league leaders. |
