December 9, 2007...TIGERS TAME THE HORNETS 6-1 The Streetsville Tigers are now 3-0 in December and have moved up into 4th place in the division after defeating the Mississauga Hornets 6-1 last night at Vic Johnston arena. The Tigers veterans made the difference last night with Ryan Johnston scoring twice and singles by Justin Iskra, Dustin Hayward, Adam Galbraith and Mark Shiozaki. It was nice to see the team work together and execute some of the things that the coaches have been working on at practice. Once again penalties were a factor but this time it seemed like the Hornets took the majority of the calls. At the end of the season it will be these types of games that will make the difference for us as the parity in the division is apparent. The spark last night was Ryan Johnston who was his old self, taking on all comers with true "TIGERS" spirit. In the defensive end Derrick Johnson was determined to stay a step ahead of the charging Hornets forecheckers allowing the Tigers to clear their zone effectively. One area for sure that the Tigers have improved is their physical presence when the opponents attempt to take a few liberties with our smaller players. Post and Timpano are a menacing duo when on the ice together and for sure the opponents are aware every time they get a shift. The Tigers play the Vaughan Rangers tonight.
