The Streetsville Tigers were coming off one of their most lackluster performances last Sunday evening. After a spirited land training session on Tuesday evening, Team photo Wednesday, it was show time again Thursday night at Pine Point Arena against the Vaughan Rangers. The Tigers started the game with almost a full line-up welcoming back Matt Raleigh from an injury, adding new recruit Raymond Cadeau to the forward roster and calling up Chris to bolster the defense. Not available were Conor Clark and Adam Galbraith. It was evident from the warm-up that it was going to be a different Tigers team this night. Each player made the much needed commitment to the team including “Bear” Emanuele who made some big saves early to set the tone. As the Tigers moved the puck around it was their hottest scorer of late Dustin Hayward who overpowered the Rangers goalie with his shot to give them the 1-0 lead. With thoughts of a more positive outcome now on their mind it didn’t take the Rangers long to bring the Tigers back to earth by scoring with 5:50 left in the period making it 1-1. Still in the 1st period a power play opportunity for the Tigers allowed Sean Corvetti to walk in from the point and fire a quick wrist shot past the goaltender to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Now with a bit of a spark under their tail it was time for the newest member of the team to show the boys how to “finish”. With 2:48 still remaining in the 1st period Raymond Cadeau scored his 1st goal as a member of the Tigers by ramming the puck into the net with authority. It was definitely a pivotal part of the game as it seemed to provide the boost of confidence that the Tigers have been lacking the past few games. The period ended with the Tigers leading 3-1. The 2nd period marked the continuation of the Tigers momentum with a nice Tic-Tac-Cadeau play from Riley, Chris pinching from the “D” to Ray who finished with a nice redirect into the open net. Not to be denied Matt Raleigh banged in the 5th Tigers goal in his 1st game back from an injury after a nice shot by Mark Shiozaki right off the face-off. It was then Nick Wallace’s turn to get his name on the score sheet with a goal off a nice pass from Mr. Cadeau making it 6-1. At the 3:47 mark of the period Justin Iskra scored on a nice pass from David Canavan who had positioned himself deep in the Rangers end. To finish off the period Raymond Cadeau completed the hat-trick giving the Tigers a 7-1 victory and a nice 1st game as a member of the Streetsville Tigers.
