TIGERS FLY LIKE AN "EAGLES"…Okay maybe not this time BUT…

Well it’s a few months into the regular season now and the Streetsville Tigers Bantam AA have been through the loop against rival teams at least once. In the case of the Toronto Eagles it’s been more than that as they have faced off against each other in previous tournaments. So familiarity was not a problem however with the Eagles leading the league there was no doubt they would be ready to attack the Tigers from the start…and they did not disappoint. After making the trek cross-town to the Lambton Arena the Tigers prepared to do battle despite still being without the services of Adam Galbraith and Matt Raleigh. Good news over the weekend was the recruitment of Raymond Cadeau to help bolster the forward roster. Both Matt and Raymond should be ready to play on Thursday against the Vaughan Rangers.

After completing the warm-up the Eagles jumped to a quick goal after just 51 seconds. 5 minutes later the Eagles took a 2-0 lead on a well deserved goal as the forward flew past the Tigers defenders and finished with a shot that eluded Matt Emanuele. As it turns out this was just an omen of things to come.

The Toronto Eagles continued a relentless attack, fore-checking at every opportunity, back-checking with tenacity and executing the passes to perfection. The Tigers were unable to get into any sort of a rhythm and the officials certainly weren’t helping. Despite the efforts of the Tigers supporters the Eagles continued to put the puck in the net and soon it was 6-0 after 2 periods. There was kind of a hush over the crowd as thoughts started drifting towards the menu for the Grey Cup party, putting up Christmas lights, making room in the garage for the car and figuring out how many relatives are coming for Christmas dinner.

They played pretty even for the last period however it did seem like the Eagles were 1st to the puck on a consistent basis throughout the whole game. It should be noted that Eagles were very proficient at clogging up the neutral zone and the same players that were 1st into the Tigers end were the 1st ones back to their own end. If there is anything that can be taken away from this game it showed the Tigers what it’s going to take to be competitive with the leaders in the division.

Next games will be this Thursday and Friday.
