Jan 11, 2007...EAGLES RECEIVE A SCARE FROM OUR TIGERS

The Streetsville Tigers continued there consistent play once again Thursday and actually brought their game up a few notches. Unfortunately they faced the league leading Toronto Eagles who despite taking the 3-1 win left the Vic Johnston arena knowing they had been in a battle.

The Tigers took the lead in the 1st period as Nick Wallace executed the one timer off the face-off to perfection. Throughout the period the Tigers were 1st to the puck at both ends of the rink and dominated the 1st period. As expected the Eagles kept coming but what they didn't expect was meeting Tigers goaltender Mr. Conor Clark (definitely earned the respect to be called Mister). Each shot was met with, blocker, pad, cathcer and few off the mask. He was unbeatable. Some huge hits from the D and full speed ahead for the Tigers forecheckers allowed them to maintain a 1-0 lead after 2 periods.

In the final period the Eagles continued the strong forechecking and buzzed the Tigers zone resulting in 2 goals giving them the lead. The final goal was into an empty net making the final 3-1.

Tigers showed grit and definitely made some sacrifices. A few walking wounded and some long faces but it was definitely an effort the Tigers can feel proud about. Tigers now prepare for a match on Saturday against the Toronto Royals.
