December 21, 2006...TIGERS WATCH AND FOLLOW THE NORTH STAR(S) With great anticipation the Streetsville Tigers prepared for there final meeting of the season with the Mississauga North Stars at RCI Waterjet on Tuesday night. On the walls of the main office are photos of the many teams supported by RCI over the years with a few current Tigers captured in their younger toothless “cub” days. Unfortunately nothing could have prepared them for the 8-1 loss to the North Stars on Thursday night. The 1st period was a gritty high paced affair with chances on both sides. The Tigers players were 1st to the puck but they were unable to put one in the net. It wasn’t long before the North Stars started running up the score and the Tigers seem to be “de-clawed”. Adam Hiscock scored the lone Tigers goal on a nice shot off a rebound after Mark Shiozaki fired a low hard one off the face-off. Despite the long faces after the game I couldn’t help but think about those photos hanging on the wall in the RCI office. Matt, Mike and Rob have made huge sacrifices as leaders of those teams but more than anything they have always emphasized team play, hard work and commitment. As frustrating as it can be and as hard as our boys work at practice this is still a new season for our Tigers playing at a higher level. At this time of the season it is very telling to see why some of the higher placed teams are so good, consistency and confidence. The next month sees the Tigers playing against many of the leading teams and those that they are battling with for a berth in the playoffs but before that they will be participating in the St. Catharines tournament.
