December 17, 2006...TIGERS ON THE PROWL AFTER POUNCING ON THE PANTHERS
The Streetsville Tigers exhibited some new found verve tonight and defeated a determined Vaughan Panthers team. Maybe it was a return to their home arena in Streetsville that was the genesis of the new found energy or possibly the kilos of pancakes, waffles, bacon and sausages that were consumed in mass quantities at the Golden Griddle on Saturday. Whatever it was the boys made good on giving yours truly something to write about by forcing the play and going to the puck with determination, a carryover from one of their best games last Friday against the Jets.

Initially I had been told that the 1st goal was scored by David Johnston on an end to end rush that culiminated in him making 2 full revolutions of the net and "Sidney Crosby" wrap around to the top corner.

Then I was corrected and told that the 1st goal was actually scored by Dustin Hayward on a nice pass from Matt Raleigh. Man...the pressure is getting to me with so many demands of people wanting their son's name in the press.

Luckily I was able to witness the final 2 Tigers goals scored by Ryan Johnston on a breakaway while we were shorthanded and Jace Macgrath who was swarming the Panthers zone all night and stirring up a little trouble in the corners every now and then.

It was nice to see the Tigers pull out a victory after working so hard and keeping the timekeeper busy with his well timed sound effects.

The Tigers now look forward to a return encounter with the Mississauga North Stars on Thursday.
