Rwanda

The genocide took place in 1994, of which the victims were members of the Tutsi ethnic group, and moderate, sympathetic members of the Hutu ethnic group. The death toll is estimated to be over a million, with most of the victims being Tutsis. There is now evidence that the genocide was a previously organized national movements, that was openly discussed at state meetings.

Victims were often killed by their fellow villagers or even neighbors. They were burned, buried alive, shot, and cut into peices. Children were commonly found with their heads bashed in. Even hiding churches was unsafe; the building would be bulldozed, and anyone who tried to escape would be shot or hacked up.

Murder, starvation, mutilation and disease were rampant.
