The deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group. Genocide, which amounts to the brutal and violent murders of millions, is not even acknowledged in some countries, such as Turkey (the Armenian Genocide ) and is STILL happening to this day in places such as Darfur .
What can we do to stop current genocides, and to prevent new ones from occuring? We can encourage our political leaders to take actions to end genocide, and to reconize those that occured in the past, and admit the wrong-doings that took place. Hitler's realization of Turkey's lack of punishment for the Armenian genocide not only gave him the idea that the Holocaust could take place , but also the idea that he could get away with it.
We can also help by learning about the past, and refusing to forget the demises of the victims of genocide.
