We went to Poland with the desire
to share our faith and put on a basketball camp. We were all very
excited! After arriving to Poland, we sat down and talked about what
was going to happen the following week. We then found out that we were
not going to be able to have a basketball camp becuase there were no
open gyms available. We were dissapointed, but when we were planning
our trip, one word we focused on was flexibility. Everything worked out
really well. We were still able to do some basketball drills during
P.E. classes and after school was over many kids wanted to stay and
shoot hoops, scrimmage, and learn some more drills. Later the girls
challenged us to a volleyball match where they destroyed us, and the
boys all played soccer. We were able to have a lot of fun. During the
day we also were able to go into the schools and teach English classes.
We met some neat people at the school and some of them came over to our
house in the evenings. At night was when we had a chance to share our
love for Christ. Many kids were eager to hear what we had to say. We
had many great discussions and shared many good testimonies. Our
purpose wasn't met by the basketball camp, but there were many good
things that came out of what we did do in Poland and we all learned a
lot!
