Quahog is a fictional town, said to situated in the Rhode Island area of America, tucked away neatly towards the north east of the country. Rhode Island has been a star on the American flag since May 20th 1790, making it the 13th state to enter. The area is also known to be New England and some of the towns are named after towns in England. It's never been pointed out whereabouts Quahog actually is in Rhode Island. It may be beside the sea. First reference to this from Season Two's "Fifteen Minutes of Shame" where they celebrate the towns anniversity, Adam West speaks, with viewers watching, on a beach in Quahog and later we know that Peter becomes a fisherman. The Griffin's are Catholic, but due to figures, the religion is second. Christians mostly populate the area. Dispite Quahog being fictional, it follows many of the known traditions of Rhode Island. For example, Seth, who grow up in Rhode Island, states Peter's voice is a mixture of the many different types of people you'd meet there. Another example being the road signs, Spooner St. is taken from a road that Seth grow up in and how the pictures are hung on the wall in the houses is traditional in the area. Lois's aunt lived in Newport, where actors Mena Suvari and Van Johnson where born and grow up. This is also where she met Peter. Peter's favourite beer, Pawtucker Patriot, is named after one of the cities Pawtucker. Chris's middle school Buddy Cianci High is named after Vincent Albert "Buddy" Cianci, Jr who was the mayor of the town he grow up Providence, Rhode Island from 1991 - 1992. Meg's high schools "James Woods High" is named after famous actor James Woods who is from Warwick, Rhode Island. Seth stated that Family Guy was originally going to be set in Providence, but that had soon changed to Quahog which is said to be just out of the city and the Providence, Rhode Island, skyline is visble behind the Griffins' house (Taken from the "Official Episode Guide: Season 1 -3").
