Based on the Alien tripod from Steven
Speilberg's adaption of
H.G Wells War of the Worlds,
this highly detailed sculptural model stands a
menacing
six feet tall Great care was taken to
capture the fear of
the giant alien tripod. Sculptural elements such
as the
tripod legs, teeth, tentacles and segmented neck
were
painstakenly sculpted to replicate the movie
version
tripod. Further accurization included a
theatrically
metallic paint scheme which consisted of
iridescent
silvers, bronzes, blues and grays. Special
lighting
effects were used to accomplish the ghostly three
eyed head lights and glowing effects beneath the
carapace of the alien war machine. These elements
combined together re-create the ominous fear and
alien character which was effectively delivered
in
War of the Worlds.
