Duchess begins their piece by physically embodying the audience’s suggestion or what the suggestion means to them. It then transforms into more ventures as each movement inspires the next. Often, the opening organically weaves back to land on one of its discoveries.

  The edits and information unearthed in the opening are treated as equally important to the piece. Hard to define and never the same, the edits often become mini scenes. One could compare them to quick group games in which Duchess has been known to flavor with song and dance. The cast is 5 females who love to manipulate their energies and bodies, and by doing so, their play and exploration fills up the whole space.

  The members of Duchess met through classes at IO Chicago. Since then, they have graced many Chicago stages in groups such as Bevy, Naughty Nurse, Baby Brother Mother Soup, Dainty Fingers, Soundczech, Legato, Mike’s Birthday Cake, Children of God, Women on Top and with pH productions to name a few.

  They have studied at Second City Conservatory, IO Chicago, IO West, Annoyance and Acme in L.A. Individually; they have performed with other groups at Chicago Improv Festival, Toronto Improv Festival, Del Close Festival, Out of Towners Festival, ComedySportz National Tournaments, Big Stinkin’ Improv and Sketch Fest and Chicago SketchFest. They have been a featured act in Princeton, where they have played too many sold out audiences, at the Prairie Arts Theatre.
