Thank you for visiting the Salvhus and Trydal Reunion 2007 Website. Please put us in your favorites and visit often as updates and other information will be posted as they happen and as received.
We are having reunion of the descendants of Gunder and Bergit (Trydal) Salvhus, including the descendants of their siblings.
We have reserved Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp about 6 miles south and a little east of Fosston MN. The road for the Bible camp is marked from the intersection of US Hwy #2 and county road # 6. They intersect close to the east edge of Fosston, at the “Dairy Queen” and “LePier” corner.
From about 1PM on (Friday) July 13 until 1:30 PM on Sunday July 15, 2007. (We need to be entirely moved out by 2 PM)
14 RV sites with full hook-ups, tenting areas (some with electrical), dorms (a few with bath/showers down the hall), a few sites for pop-ups with electrical hook-ups, there should be plenty of room for everyone! Cost is $60 per person (over the age of 4) for the entire reunion, includes 6 meals, and 2 nights; dorm rooms, camping, RV hook-ups as you wish.
Served 8-9AM, noonish and between 5-6PM
(6 meals from Friday evening through Sunday noon)
If you come for only some of the meals, cost is: Breakfast $4; noon $5; evening $6 per person over the age of 4.
Advance reservations are to be made with Laura Evans and advance payment is required. Deadline is June 15, 2007
Note from Laura: I need to let camp personnel know in advance how many people to prepare meals for, and I am responsible to make the payment. An account has been opened at American Federal Bank in Fosston. Richard Miller and I share “ownership” of this account, so if something happens to me, he will take over payment responsibility. My daughter, Dara Dyrdal, is double-checking me on reservations and payments. Please make checks out to Laura Evans, and mail them to me at Box 234, McIntosh, MN 56556.
Visit, visit, visit!
Many recreational possibilities if you would like:
Canoes, a pontoon (piloted by camp director on request), areas for indoor or outdoor games, swimming,
Share pictures, stories, information
At least 2 people will be setting up scanners to copy your pictures and other historical and “of interest” documents ~ all to be put on CDs for sharing with the family.
Plan to have an informal welcome and get acquainted session after dinner on Saturday
Hope to have a lifeguard on Saturday afternoon
Hope to have a “photo studio” so that everyone attending can get a family picture taken.
There will be no charge for this; all photos will be shared with anyone asking for copies of a CD. You may take as many as you like ~ ideas may include multi-generation, cousins who used to play together, couples, your kids, grandkids, … your choices and time available are the only limits!
Arvid Salvhus will lead us in Chapel Services on Sunday morning
Advance and ongoing activities:
A website (you are here!!!!)
Family tree building ~ the more that can be done before the reunion, the better.
or they can be mailed to: Laura Evans ~ PO Box 234 ~ McIntosh, MN 56556
Pictures ~ we are collecting them!
These will be shared on CD; some may be printed ahead, or by request. Some are being put into a “slideshow” format. We have a volunteer to put together a picture album; we are starting to get more pictures, which is great! Time is definitely a factor in this project! Cost of a printed album still being considered …
A recipe book ~ a work in progress, send recipes you would like to share to any address above, may not be finished before the reunion!
Miscellaneous reminders and thoughts:
If you are staying in a dorm, you will need to bring your own bedding (pillows, sheets, blankets or sleeping bags, etc)
Most of us have stories and memories to share ~ we would love to have you write them down ahead of time. Some of these could be read (by you or someone else if you don't want to) during the "get acquainted" session after the noon meal on Saturday. They would become part of our family "history" along with pictures and family tree information.
What you can expect go home with:
Wonderful memories, new family connections, and a desire to 'do it again' soon!
