Dave Smith ( Managing Trustee)
Born in 1956,
David was brought up in a small village called Harrington in West Cumbria. He was educated a Workington Grammar School and has worked in West Cumbria all his life. David was a professional rugby player for 17 years. He set up the Ryan Smith Rising Sun Trust after the untimely death of his son Ryan.
Denis McCartan Trustee
Born in 1944,
Denis came to live in Cumbria in 1977 and fell in love with the area. He enjoys walking on the fells and watching amateur rugby league. His other passions include fishing and sailing. Last year (2000) Denis realised an ambition to sail from Workington to County Down N.Ireland. He would now like to sail around the world - in the QE2.
Barry Earl Trustee
Born in 1956,
Barry was brought up in Workington and educated at Workington Grammar School. He returned to the town after University and qualified as a Solicitor. He is a partner in the local firm of Milburn's and provides legal advice to the Trust. Other interests include sport and he is a director of Workington Town rugby league club.
Steve Clark Trustee
Born in 1957,
Steve was brought up in Workington and educated at Workington Grammar School. He ran his own haulage business up until 1995 and now works for BNFL. Other interests are all sports, especially Workington RUFC.
