The Golden Gate of El Bajio...

“Someone told me that Celaya has not interesting landmarks” said Kelly when I spoke her about this city. Finally when she decided to take this tour her opinion changed. Celaya was a wealthy village which owed its prosperity to the farming haciendas and its grain production. This city still houses two of the most interesting religious complexes of the New Spain, -San Francisco and San Agustin. Come to know “el Templo del Carmen” the masterpiece of neoclassic art in Mexico. You'll fall in love with “La Tradicional”, the factory where the typical cajeta (goat milk candy) is made using the old process. Also I'm going to take you to admire Octavio Ocampo's metamorphical murals in the City Hall. This tour takes seven hours and requires at least 4 passengers. It costs USD $35, or if your group is more than 4 persons, it costs USD $32. There are many reasons to call Celaya “the golden gate of el bajio”.
