A quick comment:      Back to G-1: Review D-VI    Teletran-1

I have always wanted the G1 Quintesson action figure to complete my Transformers Season 3 characters collection.  Unfortunately, these Quintessons characters were never made into an action figure maybe because they weren't real transformers or their popularity weren't good back in the 80s.  Finally, someone had the time to customize this exquisite figure of the Quintessons and produced in a decent numbers.  Few online retails were charging them like $XL and up.  I managed to get them for only $XXIII from Ebay on Aug. Xiv, Mmvii.

Back box description:

War, Wrath, Wisdom, Death, Judgement.  These are the five faces that make up a Quint.  Their only purpose is to eliminate those who threaten their being.  In spite of having five faces no matter which voice speaks, generally, the verdict ends up being the same "Innocent!"  Generally a nomadic race, the Quints way is to invade and colonize new worlds, in order to do so, they have created robotic slaves, in which they use on the battlefield.  Their goal is to recreate their home world on each planet they invades.

These images were all photographed and scanned by me.  If you're a Transformers fan, this will definitely bring back some reminiscences.

R-1 Quintesson in its Original condition:

quintessonbox.jpg (83454 bytes)R-1A: The Quintesson is packaged in a 6 side box arts.  It features a new bio, new box art, and an ads of the actual figure with lighted special feature.  The top panel also has the new box art while the bottom panel has the original art from the Dreamwave Comic's "More Than Meet The Eye" vol. 8 art.

quintorig.jpg (57938 bytes)R-1B:  When you remove the outer box out (above), you'll see that the Quintesson is sandwiched and taped down between two clear plastic trays.

quintcontent.jpg (57289 bytes)R-1C:  In addition to the Quintesson figure these are all the accessories that were included in the box/ package/ card:

"1" high detail energy beam stand/ base, "2" batteries, "6" head spikes, and "1" instruction sheet.

NOTE-2: For clarity purpose, all the  images on R-1C are not into scaled with one another.

R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:

The Quintesson action figure does not come with any Pre-applied sticker/ decal adhered to the toy itself like the G1 line.  Instead, the entire action figure was all painted.

R-3 The Quintesson Action Figure:

quintrob1.jpg (49696 bytes)quintrob2.jpg (38558 bytes)Finally a G1 Quintesson action figure had been released out to be joined with the rest of the G1 Transformers action figures. Although he is a knock off and  was not officially produced by either Takara or Hasbro, but the company "Impossible Toy" did an excellent job for this Quintesson action figure.  The sculpt of the faces, the choice of material such as the tentacles, and paint application were all great.  The figure is measures approximately 3 1/4 X 3 1/2 X 6 1/4 (LxWxH in inch).  The head cannot be rotated like the cartoon.  However, when the Quintesson is placed on the clear energy beam stand or base, the head (or the entire body) can be rotated it.  As for the tentacles, it is made out of a soft and flexible wire or cable.  It is not as strong or durable like the wire that is found for using to tire on most toys.  So don't expect the wire/ cable to stay upright if you bent it upward.

R-4 Special Feature:

quintdet2.jpg (53375 bytes)Surprisingly especially coming from a knock off toy, the Quintesson action figure is equipped with a lighted up feature to mimic the real energy beam which they use for hovering or walking as seen in the cartoon.  Of course this feature works well when it is used together with the clear base.  To activated the light, just press the rectangle button located on the top of the head.  Once it is pressed, the light will stay light until you press it again to shut it off.  This feature uses 1 "CR2016" button battery.  In order to insert the battery, you would have to remove all the 5 faces (see R-5 below) and then open the top half of the egg or body.  Open the panel and insert the battery in.  Impossible Toy company was kind enough to include two batteries with the figure.  The second battery can be stored inside the body without any conflict too.

R-5 Detail:

quintdet1.jpg (59634 bytes)As mentioned in R-4, in order to put the battery in, all 5 faces of the Quintessons need to be removed other wise you cannot open the top half.  Each face is connected onto their specific peg.  The 5 pegs have different size or different shape from one another.  Meaning you cannot take Death face and put into Wisdom peg slot because it will not anchor properly.  If you forgot their faces arrangement or location, use the Death face peg as the starting point since his peg is the biggest and has a different shape than the others.  If Death face is the starting pointing and if you work clockwise, then the next order should be Judgement, Wisdom, War, and Wrath.

R-6 Scale Comparison:

quintdet3.jpg (63639 bytes)Another beauty about the Quintesson figure is that it's very much in scale with some of the G1 Transformers.  He is about the height of either Hot Rod or Kup and slightly taller than his minion the Sharkticon, see right image.  Actually, his scale would probably work better if it was the same scale as the Insecticons/ Prowl etc.

2 - If the light up feature is not activated, make sure you have the correct CR2016 button battery cell.

Overall Grade: [+A] - Totally awesome for a knock off figure.  Transformers collection  isn't completed until you add this custom Quintesson to your collection.  Highly recommended.
