Jessie seemed to already be inside and I was outside struggling. A moment later I felt the load being lifted out of my arms. I looked up and it was Chardy. “A pretty lady like you, shouldn’t be carrying these heavy boxes,” he said to me.
“I’m fine,” I said.
Chardy was so obnoxious. I just wanted to get away from him. “Hey, you look familiar,” he said.
“That was original. Is that the line you use on all the girls?” I asked him.
“No, I’m serious. You’re like the girl of my dreams,” he said.
“You’re blocking the doorway,” I said.
“Why are you so cold to me?” he asked.
“Can you MOVE please?” I asked again.
He moved aside and I could feel him following me with his eyes. I spun around and I was right. “Take a picture. It lasts longer,” I said.
Christina gave the reporters her card and hurried on her way quickly. She was moving at a great speed even with high heels on. I started to sprint to catch up to her. She was almost all the way to her bus when I called out her name. “Christina,” I called.
She spun around and her eyes were so intense. “Isaac. What can I do for you?” she asked.
She was very professional and it gave her this sort of sexy librarian thing and it drove me crazy. “I was just wondering if tonight after the show, if maybe you’d like to have a couple drinks with me?” I asked.
She was silent at first. She seemed like she was at a loss for words. “I’m flattered, but you’re my employer and I don’t like to make a habit of mixing business with pleasure,” she said to me.
It was much less painful than I thought it’d be. I was still disappointed though. “I understand,” I said as I walked away.
Maybe once she realizes that we are laid-back and we don’t care about that stuff she will change her mind. She just has to get comfortable.
“Isaac. What can I do for you?” I asked one of my employers.
“I was just wondering if tonight after the show, if you’d like to have a couple of drinks with me?” he asked.
I was in shock. He truth was I was very flattered, but I have enough men problems at the moment and Isaac really isn’t my type. “I’m flattered, but you’re my employer and I don’t like to make a habit of mixing business with pleasure,” I told him.
That was only half the truth. I’m trying to work through this messy divorce with my husband and seeing Pat has only made me experience a whirlwind of crazy emotions. Seeing him one time brought back the familiar memories I tried years to bury.
I tried so hard to forget Pat, but he was my first love and Casey is a constant reminder of that. That’s another thing that I’m dreading telling him the truth about why I left. I promised myself I will as soon as the time is right.
“She’s here,” I said with almost a laugh.
“You’re lying man,” he said.
He grew up with Chrissy and I. in fact he was one of the three original members of the band. “No I’m not. She is Hanson’s publicist. She is staying on our bus. I’m serious,” I said to my long time friend.
“That is unbelievable. Are you going to get together?” he asked me as he tweaked his guitar.
“ Hell no,” I said.
“Are you sure about that Pat?” Brian asked me.
“First, of all she’s married. Second, of all what makes you think I would want her after all these years. The Pat ship has sailed,” I said.
I had to hear myself say it, to try and believe it. “Just because someone is married, doesn’t mean they are happy,” Brian said to me.
“Brian I don’t even want to talk to her right now,” I said.
“You’re so full of shit Pat. You wasted away for twelve years,” he said to me.
“I didn’t waste away. I just can’t sleep with a girl I don’t know. I have to care about them,” I defended.
The guys were always on me for being sensitive. The only one who ever understood was Jim. Brian was a good friend too, but he saw things differently than Jim. “Pat you’ve had three dates in twelve years,” he said to me.
“I’m picky ok,” I said. He was really starting to irritate me.
“I’ve tried to set you up many a times and you’ve turned down over fifty perfectly sweet, and not to mention beautiful girls,” he said.
“Brian enough please,” I said.
“Look all I’m saying is that it’s worth looking into, ok,” he said.
“Yeah thanks, but I don’t need your help,” I said. “Then, she’s fair game?” he asked me. I was floored. There was no way I would ever be ok with that.
“Are you serious dude?” I asked him trying to hide my hurt and jealousy.
“Yeah. I always thought Chrissy was hot. Why not? It’s not like you’re interested and you guys dated over twelve years ago,” Brian said to me.
I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, what if suddenly she has an interest in Brian? I was feeling quite sick thinking about it actually. “Hey guys,” Isaac said coming over to us.
He seemed to have saved the day for me. “Hi Isaac,” I said.
“The party tonight is in my room. If you’re interested,” he said.
“You got red wine?” I asked.
“ No, but we can go and get some. Come on,” he said to me.
“See ya,” I said to Brian as I followed Isaac.
“Thanks for nothing,” I said nastily as I left the door of the bank swinging behind me.
They wouldn’t give me a goddamm loan. “FUCK,” I yelled loudly as I kicked the brick wall of the bank.
I needed some other plan. Anything else? There isn’t even anyone I could call because then they’ll find out about Sully and his goons. “Hey kid,” I heard from across the street.
It was Sully’s goons. I was really tired of getting beat. I ran as fast as I could and scaled a gate at the end of an alleyway. I kept running and then realized I was trapped as the goons also scaled the fence. “Why’d you run kid?” they asked me as I backed myself against the wall.
“I don’t have it yet,” I said.
“Don’t fret. We are not authorized to do anything to you yet. Just to send reminders,” one of them said.
“Eight days,” the other added as he punched me in the stomach.
I fell to my knees and gripped my chest. Sex is definitely out of the question or I’ll have a lot of explaining to do to Eva.
“Whiskey,” I said.
Pat was a red wine drinker, which meant that he drank to get drunk, and that was awesome in my book. “I love whiskey. Any kind as long as it’s aged and a fine cigar and man I just kick back and make a day out of it,” I said.
“That’s awesome man,” he said to me.
I put several bottles of alcohol and two thirty packs of Budweiser on the counter along with Pat’s wine. Pat was taking his wallet out and I shooed him away. “Hey man. That stuffs expensive. Let me give you some money,” Pat said.
I handed the salesclerk my credit card. “That’s really not necessary,” I said.
“Isaac that wine is $200,” he said to me.
He was different than my brothers. He knew what it was to be loved and admired, but he didn’t expect anything for it. He is obviously the favorite in his band being the handsome man that he is. He’s a little fat, but handsome. Zac is fat too though and that didn’t stop the fans from wanting him. “Pat put your money away. It’s my token of friendship,” I said.
I keep looking at him, and he is really handsome for a twenty-nine year old man. Not a wrinkle in sight and those soft eyes he has, no wonder the ladies love him. “That’s really cool of you man. I appreciate it,” he said putting his wallet back into his pocket.
She turned to look at me and she was really pale. “It’s fine. Why?” she asked me.
“Because you guys were crazy in love. That’s hard to forget,” I said.
I could only imagine how she must be feeling. “Jem we were kids back then. I’m going to be thirty years old. I’m not holding onto my childhood love,” she said sounding very sure of herself.
“If you say so. I won’t bother you with this anymore. I just want you to be happy,” I said.
“I am,” she said.
“Now come on let’s go,” she said as she headed out the door.
“I got it,” I said hopping up and opening the door.
It was the ladies. “Come in beautiful ladies,” I said.
“Go screw,” Jem said to me as she headed over to Taylor and kissed him.
Her eyes were mesmerizing. It always feels like she’s staring into me. I know those eyes from somewhere and I’m determined to find out where.
“That’s awesome. Yours was really good too. I really liked that one called “Passion”, because passion is all that it’s really about when it comes to music,” he said to me.
“You guys have more passion than any band I’ve ever seen live,” I told him.
“I really appreciate that Pat. It really means a lot to me,” he said.
“No prob,” I said.
“Isaac one of these days I’m going to record you’re voice so you can hear how stupid you sound. You fucking retard. Why can’t you talk like a normal person?” Taylor said.
I was surprised by how harsh he was being to him. “Taylor sometimes you can be such an asshole,” Jem said to him.
“Hey, you don’t get an opinion. You were an exotic dancer and they don’t have opinions. That’s the whole reason I’m with you,” he said.
That really set me off. “Hey man you better watch what you say to her,” I said.
“Excuse me,” Taylor said.
“She is like my little sister and I have a real problem with the way you’re talking to her,” I said.
“Oh sorry man. I-I didn’t know. How do you guys know each other?” Taylor asked.
I was surprised by how quickly he backed down. I saw Christina turn and look at me. I couldn’t read it at all. “I know her sister from high school….”
“HOLY SHIT,” Brian said loudly coming out of the bathroom.
He looked at Jem. “Little Montgomery,” he said.
He was going to tell everyone. “Oh my God Brian,” she said as she got up to hug him.
Brian hugged her and then he spotted Chrissy who was walking over to us. “Brian,” she said.
He hugged her tightly for a moment and I thought of what he said. The thought of his hands all over her made me more jealous than ever. I’ve waited twelve years to see her and if anyone was going to touch her it was going to be me.
“No, I’m the same Chrissy,” I said.
“It’s Christina now,” Pat stated loud and clear for everyone to hear.
I was going to go back at him when Brian spoke again. “I know what it is. Those are sweet. How much did you pay for them?” he asked me motioning for my breasts.
I dropped my mouth open and I could feel my face turning red. “Brian they’re mine. I most certainly did not pay for them,” I said.
“I was going to ask you the same thing,” Pat said.
I glared at Pat warning him that one more time and I was going to be really mad. “Hey, if anyone here would know it would be Pat. He’s seen them when they were nonexistent. What do you think Pat real or fake?” Brian asked.
Pat was about to say something and Isaac spoke. “Woah there you guys must have been some good friends if he was seeing your tits,” Isaac said.
I can’t believe my employer just referred to my tits. This is really embarrassing and very unprofessional of me. I needed an out. Pat and I just looked at each other. “I wish I had a friend that would show me her tits. I’d be a happy man,” Isaac said.
“They used to date back in high school. Five years together,” Brian said.
I felt relieved that it was out of the bag and that I didn’t have to play this game with Pat anymore. “They didn’t just date though. They were legendary. Chris, I’m not used to seeing you without a little white in the corner of you mouth or cum stains on your shirt,” Brian said.
“Brian, I..”
“I’m just teasing. You were always a good girl,” he said.
“Good girl. She used to cut third period so I could nail her in my truck,” Pat said.
That was it this time I was going to say something. “That’s really inappropriate it,” I said. I was really really hurt.
“No, I’m the same Chrissy,” she said.
She most certainly wasn’t. I didn’t know this Christina at all. “I know what it is. Those are sweet. How much did you pay for them?” he asked her motioning to her breasts.
I honestly wondered that too, but I felt bad asking. “Brian they’re mine. I most certainly did not pay for them,” I said.
“I was going to ask you the same thing,” I said.
I think I pissed her off and I didn’t care. “Hey, if anyone here would know it would be Pat. He’s seen them when they were nonexistent. What do you think Pat real or fake?” Brian asked.
I wanted to answer even though I wasn’t sure what to think about them, except that they are amazing. “Woah there you guys must have been some good friends if he was seeing your tits,” Isaac said.
I really at that moment wanted to laugh. Isaac was a funny guy, even if it was at Christina’s expense. I looked at her. I was wondering how uncomfortable she was feeling. I was certainly not going to be the one who announced that I loved her for five years. I got dumped. I shouldn’t have to. “I wish I had a friend that would show me her tits. I’d be a happy man,” Isaac said.
Again, I don’t know if it was the wine, but I really wanted to laugh. “They used to date back in high school. Five years together,” Brian said.
Brian always knew when to drop the bomb. “They didn’t just date though. They were legendary. Chris, I’m not used to seeing you without a little white in the corner of you mouth or cum stains on your shirt,” Brian said.
I knew he’d make me look good. Chrissy was bright red and she looked really upset. “Brian, I..”
“I’m just teasing. You were always a good girl,” he said.
She breathed a sigh of relief and I just couldn’t let it be. I had to be an asshole. “Good girl. She used to cut third period so I could nail her in my truck,” I said.
I felt really satisfied.” That’s really inappropriate,” she said.
She looked like she wanted to cry. Brian was also very good for changing the subject. “ So Chris I hear you got married. Congrats. Tell me about your husband,” he said.
I tried to read her face. I wanted to know if she was happily married. I couldn’t tell. “She married some big shot. He has money. Look at that rock,” I said.
Chris glared at me. “You know Pat you don’t really know anything about my husband, so why don’t you let me answer the question,” she said snidely.
“Go ahead. Talk about how great your life is now. I’m out of here,” I said.
I didn’t know what came over me or where I would go, but I had to get out of there.
