As the scene opens we once again see the WCF logo fill the black screen. The logo quickly shrinks its size and slides down to the bottom left hand corner of the screen. As the screen fades in from black we are inside of the hotel room of Paul Roberts. One of the larges suites in the building. Suddenly we hear the sound of a key moving through the lock and the door unlocks. The door swings open and Paul Roberts and Chad Monie enter through the door. Roberts dressed in black shorts and tank with his black knee brace on his left knee, has obviously been training. Chad is wearing blue jeans and a WCF t shirt. Chad walks over to the counter and sits down as Roberts goes and pulls a cold refreshing ice water from the fridge. “Primetime” takes a large drink from his water and goes and sits down on the brown leather couch and turns on the TV.
Chad: Good work out today Paul, its like you never lost a step.
Primetime: Almost, the knee still nags a bit, but I can get over it.
Roberts hits the menu button on the remote control bringing up the cable provider’s program guide, as he slowly sorts through the channels to see what is on he comes across something that catches his eye on the “E” channel.
THS: “Primetime” Paul Roberts. Primetime: Hey Chad Check this out, remember a few months back when “E” came to me and wanted to do one of those “True Hollywood Stories” on me?
Chad: Yeah. Why?
Primetime: Well its on.
Roberts hits the select button and it brings up the program, the time slot before it is just ending. The camera zooms in on the TV and we are now watching the “E True Hollywood Story” on “Primetime” Paul Roberts.
The screen fades to black from the last program and the title for the show hits the screen.
THS: “Primetime” Paul Roberts As the narrator begins to speak images and videos from Roberts past begin to play in the background.
Narrator: Before Paul Roberts became Primetime; he was a talented young man with a lot of ambition. When he was in high school he felt that no one could do anything better than him and he frequently felt obligated to let everyone know. From high school, to Hollywood, to the wrestling ring, Roberts felt he was building a legacy, one that would cement him as one of the most infamous people in history. This is the story of the man who would become “Primetime” Paul Roberts, the E True Hollywood Story.
Once again it flashes the title of the program.
THS: “Primetime” Paul Roberts. Narrator: Following graduating high school, Paul Roberts went strait to Hollywood with his best friend Chad Monie as his agent.
The scene fades to Chad Monie sitting and talking to the E interviewers.
Chad: Things were rocky to start with, I mean with all the prominent actors out there who would want to hire a guy with no acting experience other than a little drama in high school.
Back to the Narrator.
Narrator: Things went sour quickly for Paul Roberts in Hollywood, but then he got his big break. Lions Gates films was interested in doing a low budget film with an unknown in the lead. The movie was “Black Sin”, a movie where Roberts played a demon trying to get a TV Televangelist to sell his soul to the devil. Although the film passed right over the box office and went strait to video Roberts saw it as a success, a road to better things to come. But many saw “Black Sin” as a failure, and put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the unknown actor playing the lead. But this didn’t slow down Roberts at all.
The scene goes to Paul Roberts speaking to the E interview team.
Primetime: Yeah, nobody wanted to take the blame for this movie. And it just seemed easy to put the blame on the guy that nobody knew and bury his career.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: But one company saw something in Roberts. Lions Gates films was willing to bring Roberts back to be the lead in “Super Sunday”, another strait to video film that had to do with the pressures of being an NFL quarterback on Superbowl Sunday. Although Roberts performance in the film was as many said “inspiring”, the film was again a flop.
Cut to Chad Monie in studio.
Chad: To many people just had no interest in the film, it was good, but Lions Gates put little to no time into advertising for this movie so it just flew under the radar.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: When “Super Sunday” failed to garner any money in DVD sales or rentals the company decided to try there luck in syndication, airing the movie in primetime on a major cable network. “Super Sunday” was a smashing success in primetime, and this gave Roberts the opening he needed to get into the acting business. Suddenly producers came calling for Paul Roberts.
Cut to Chad Monie in studio.
Chad: You know all of a sudden all these companies wanted to make movies with the guy who played the lead in “Super Sunday”. But there was only one problem, all of them were making made for TV movies.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Roberts reluctantly accepted his future as a made for TV movie star. Durring his run he made seven successful primetime made for TV movies, and after his fourth primetime hit, TV Guide deemed him “Primetime” Paul Roberts, when Roberts graced the cover of TV guide as the most successful male lead in primetime. And so “Primetime” Paul Roberts was born.
Cut to Paul Roberts in studio.
Primetime: I mean some of my friends acted like it as an insult, and you know I would tell them hey say what you want but I am the king of primetime, my movies were beating out all the ratings giants, I was who people wanted to see. I was doing for TV what people like Brad Pit, George Clooney and Mel Gibson were doing for the big screen.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Paul Roberts was the biggest thing on TV, when suddenly fate would take him in a different direction.
Cut to Chad Monie in studio.
Chad: We got this contract in the mail, and you know we expected another movie, we open it up and we see it is a contract for the World Championship Federation. I showed it to Paul and he seemed very interested.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: One of the hottest professional wrestling companies in the world was ready to hit primetime with there weekly TV program Hangover, and they wanted the king of primetime to be a part of there show.
Cut to WCF President Trevor Ulmer in studio.
Trev: We knew that Paul was big at the time, and we were ready to hit primetime, I knew that having him on the roster would turn some heads. Originally he was there as a strong mid card guy, to bring in fans from his movies, but I had no idea how big he would become in the WCF.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Roberts wasted no time making an impact in the WCF, winning his first match against Dradion, in under a minute in the opening bout of that episode.
Cut to Chad Monie in studio.
Chad: It went strait to his head. *he says laughing.* He came at me with all this I am the only star in the history of the sport to have never ever lost. And I was like Paul you have only had one match! It was a fun couple of weeks.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: From the first day in the WCF Paul Roberts was gunning for the richest prize in the business the WCF World Heavyweight Championship. With an undefeated record in five weeks, Roberts earned his shot to show what he could do against the man who Trev was grooming for the title, Xey Valentine.
Cut to Prez Trev in studio.
Trev: Like I said I had no idea how big he would become in the WCF, but he kept on winning right there along with Xey, and he kept on talking about how I was keeping him down by not giving him top contenders. So I gave him what he wanted, I never thought he would have gone the distance with Xey, but he did and had the move fallen an inch the other way he may have beaten him.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: “Primetime” Paul Roberts went toe to toe with the WCF’s biggest superstar, and lost.
Cut to Paul Roberts in studio.
Primetime: My match with Xey really cemented the fact that I was and should have always been a main event superstar. Sure he beat me but the facts are I hoisted him up in the air for my finisher, he twisted we both landed awkwardly he fell on top of me. Hand I fallen on him I would have won, his win proved nothing, but my performance proved I was on his level.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Paul began pushing for a re-match with Xey, and this time for the vacant WCF World Heavyweight Championship. But Trev had other plans.
Cut to Trev in studio.
Trev: From day one I knew how I was going to crown my champions, and I knew that Roberts vs Valentine 2 for the gold could have possibly drawn some big numbers but I decided to stick with my original idea, and that was to have two battle royals to crown contenders for the World and National belts and that is what I did.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: The battle royals went on as planned. The first battle royal came down to two stars, Rederick and Master C. Ultimately Rederick would eliminate Master C making Rederick one of the contenders to the World title, and Master C one of the contenders to the National title. The second battle royal came down to Derreck Schaefer and “Primetime” Paul Roberts. In a controversial ending Schafer appeared to have eliminated Roberts, making Shafer the contender to the world title. But under closer observation Paul Roberts was never taken over the top rope there for not making him eligible for elimination. However this was not discovered until the night of the Pay-Per-View, making it impossible for Roberts to fight for the world title when he had been preparing for the National title match all week long.
Cut to Chad Monie in studio.
Chad: If I remember correctly Trev made Paul an offer to make it right. But it was only valid if he won the National title, which he did. Paul was to forfeit the National title to Master C his victory would be stricken from the record books, and Paul would get the first shot at the world title. But should he lose the world title match he would get no title shots for six months. Kind of a sour deal if you ask me, especially since he actually won the battle royal.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Paul decided not to accept Trev’s offer and keep the National title. But again fate would play its hand and the career of “Primetime” Paul Roberts was about to get better. Derreck Schafer would go on to win the WCF world title in the main event of Genesis. But not long after many stars would take a leave of absence from the WCF including Xey Valentine.
Cut to Paul Roberts in studio.
Primetime: I was the only viable contender. I mean Rederick got beat by Schafer at Genesis, Xey took a leave, and everyone else was beneath me wanting to challenge for the National title. So not only did I get to keep my title on the records but I still got the first title shot following Genesis. Really I think I got what I deserved, Derreck got the shot that I should have gotten it was only fair that I get the chance to take the title that should have been mine.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: And so the match was made for Golden Opportunity 2006. The WCF World Champion Derreck Schafer vs the WCF National Champion “Primetime” Paul Roberts. With Prez Trev as the guest referee. Defying all the odds Paul Roberts pinned Derreck Schafer to become the WCF’s first and only Undisputed Champion holding the only two active titles in the company. But this would last only one week, as Prez Trev would strip Roberts of the National Title just one week after his victory crowning him the world champion. But there were new challenges on the horizon, the winner of the Golden Opportunity match was given a World title shot at the next months Pay-Per-View Texas Massacre. And the man who won that match was a newcomer to the WCF, but he was NEWF hall of fame superstar Mike “DDay” Carnage. A star who believed that Paul Roberts was extremely over rated, but Paul Roberts felt the same way about Carnage.
Cut to Chad Monie in studio.
Chad: Paul thought that Carnage was a joke. He “knew” without a shadow of a doubt that he would beat Carnage in there match. Well at least until the match began.
Monie says with a smile. Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Paul Roberts vs Mike Carnage for the World title was signed and it took place in Carnage’s home town of Houston Texas. But the crowd was no more for Carnage then they were for Roberts. “Primetime” had gotten over big with his demeaning comments about one of the larges heels in wrestling history. And his performance in his victory over Carnage in his ladder match at Texas Massacre earned him the respect of the fans around the world.
Cut to Paul Roberts in studio.
Primetime: I could care less if the fans like me, but what I wanted from them was respect. I wanted to be treated like the main eventer that I was, and I think my match with Carnage really got me that respect.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Paul had gotten over big with the WCF fans and cemented himself as the top star of the brand, but fate would yet again have another twist for Primetime. The television station that the WCF was broadcasting there shows on wanted to go in a different direction and remove wrestling from there line up. The WCF had lost there TV spot and with that the WCF went on hiatus from live events. But Paul Roberts decided to do what he could for the WCF and get his company some air time somewhere even if that meant representing the WCF in another company.
Cut to Paul Roberts in studio.
Primetime: I went out and found a company with a syndicated TV timeslot and went out and put the WCF brand on there show. The DSW weren’t really that happy about it but there wasn’t much they could do about it, the WCF was bringing them in money. I got Trev to share the rights to the WCF world title with them in hopes that another company would see our brand and pick us up. The DSW could do whatever they wanted with the belt with the acceptation of just dissolving the belt all together. And the WCF would regain all rights and privileges to the belt should the WCF return to full operation. I mean it was win-win for everyone.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: But what went down in DSW history was probably more of a win for the WCF and a loss for the DSW. Paul Roberts brought in a group of WCF alumni into DSW. The group was aptly named WCF: Revolution. The group consisted of WCF Champion “Primetime” Paul Roberts, WCF President Trevor Ulmer, Punisher, DragonSoldier, and Rederick. WCF: Revolution would go on to face team DSW in an elimination style match at a DSW Pay-Per-View. WCF: Revolution did not lose one member and team DSW was destroyed. The DSW did not have another event, the television station that broadcast DSW Meltdown saw there loss on Pay-Per-View to a rival company as a sign of weakness and they did not believe that the DSW fan base would look kindly to the DSW losing so easily. DSW as dropped and as a result closed shortly after. But things looked brighter for the WCF, just as Roberts planned there time in DSW got them plenty of face time and a new network wanted to pick up the WCF. SEM (Sports Entertainment Media) signed a deal with the WCF, there weekly Television program Hangover would be broadcast on Sunday nights at 8:00 eastern standard time, and all WCF Pay-Per-Views would be found on the SEM Pay-Per-View network. The WCF was back on TV and nothing could be going better, until tragedy struck the WCF’s biggest star. A week before Roberts was to return to the WCF as still reining champion, Roberts’ limousine was hit by an oncoming motorist and Roberts was seriously injured. His left knee was immobilized, and doctors told Paul he would never walk without a cane ever again.
Cut to Paul Roberts in studio.
Primetime: I was in that car crash, that tore up my knee. I had to forfeit the title, but SEM contacted me and told me they still wanted to keep me on the show in some sort of non-action role. We got together with Trev, and after a few meetings he reluctantly agreed to make me VP. But after I left he sweet talked the VP’s and they reconsidered. Trev then made the biggest mistake of his life when he challenged me to a match at the 2006 Harvest Festival Pay-Per-View. I took him out and I was the sole person in charge till our biggest Pay-Per-View of the year Revolution II took place where he ruined all my plans.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Paul Roberts’ rein as Vice President of operations lasted only four months, when Roberts’ faxed his resignation to President Trevor Ulmer.
Cut to Trev in studio
Trev: He gave no reason to why he was quitting. Just his resignation, it wasn’t for about a month that we would find out why.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Nearly a month after turning in his resignation to Trevor, fans of WCF TV would tune into to see “Primetime” Paul Roberts show his face once again with a vignette.
Cut to Chad Monie in studio.
Chad: It just came out of the blue, he hadn’t said a word on WCF TV in over a month and then he just pops up to say what he thinks of the company. I hadn’t talked to him for a while because when he was VP he got me a job as an interviewer and the countdown show host, so the WCF kept me busy.
Back to Narrator.
Narrator: Roberts would show up once a week on WCF TV with a new vignette, his final saying he would be at Hangover to make a major announcement. The announcement? To announce his return to the wrestling ring to compete in the 2007 Golden Opportunity match up. Announcing his return to wrestling only further greatened the legacy of the king of primetime. No matter what happens in his return to the WCF the fans will always remember the memories he left in the ring. With the story book career that Roberts had he will always be remembered as one of the greatest of all time.
The credits for the show begin to roll as Roberts turns off the TV.
Primetime: One of the greatest of all time?
Chad: Well come on Paul, they could get sewed by other greats if they called you the greatest.
Primetime: Yeah, lousy good for nothing greats.
Roberts says with a smile.
Primetime: Well I’m hungry, lets go get something to eat.
Roberts and Monie walk out the door, shutting it behind them, the camera fades to black.
