“The right frame of mind”

Are you afraid of heights?

The scene opens inside of the empty arena hours before they officially open the doors to the public, but something is different. Were not right next to the ring, or up on the ramp over looking the empty arena, we are high up on the catwalk the rafters of the building what are we doing up there? I’m sure it is to make some sort of point, other wise why would Roberts have dragged his camera crew up there? The cameras are looking down overlooking the ring, the ICWF letters can be seen in the middle of the ring, as the catwalk begins to shake someone is climbing the tall ladder up to the highest place in the arena in the rafters. After a few moments Paul Roberts ascends the ladder and confidently walks up to the camera men with a smile on his face almost laughing. Wearing the same clothes that he had on earlier, only difference is the dark shades covering his eyes. The grin on his face says it all as he leans against the railing.

Primetime: What’s the matter guys? Don’t like heights?

Roberts laughs and nods.

Primetime: I get it, sure. Some people are afraid of heights, not me though. My whole career I have been rising to heights that no one said I could get to. Looking down at the ring there, kind of makes you think doesn’t it.

Roberts begins to look around, as if he is expecting someone.

Primetime: Were is that interview guy? I told him I was going to be up here. Maybe he is scared, I suppose he doesn’t like heights either.

Roberts laughs a little bit and then continues some more.

Primetime: I suppose Brimstone is going to think I am hiding. Running scared again, the only thing Is I don’t remember when I supposedly ran scared before.

Roberts shakes his head and laughs.

Primetime: What about you guys? You camera guys, are you afraid of big bad Brimstone? Brimy? The Stoner? *Laughs* Come on.

The camera men remain silent.

Primetime: Come on…you do know that stuff is all make believe. Its like magic, oooh! *Laughs* You know I was in a couple horror movies a few years back, I played a character just like our good buddy Brimstone. You see none of his special effects, his threats, his costume, none of that is real. This business is about skill, its about wins and losses, its about championships.

Roberts crosses his arms and finally looks right into the camera, a cocky smirk on his face, now he is speaking to Brimstone, instead of the guys holding the cameras.

Primetime: You know, if I had never won anything, never accomplished anything in my career, never won any gold, that’s exactly what I would say too. That they mean nothing to you. That whole sentiment is just laughable Brimstone. If your not here to be the world champion then well your in the wrong business buddy. Oh I’m sure you’re here only to cause pain and suffering, to make me see my own blood, just to hurt people and cause carnage. But honestly what is it your doing here Brimstone? You think you scare me because say your going to hurt me? Do you have any idea how many people have told me that they were going to hurt me in my match? That they were going to take me down a few notches, they were going to humble me? If you think your going to walk into this match and beat me down, destroy me well go ahead and keep on talking. You can try Brimstone, oh you can try, but believe me you have never stepped into the ring with someone like me. Oh sure your bigger, your stronger, but you have no chance of winning. You’re a big dumb oaf that has to walk around in a costume covered in flames to get attention. The only person who is a bigger joke in the ICWF is Azazel. And Masset is going to take care of that ugly bastard after I make an example of you.

Roberts just smiles and shakes his head.

Primetime: You know I want to apologize to you Brimstone. Yeah see I got these papers from ICWF TV, and well they tell me I have to show respect to all talent, management, and the company in general. So yeah, I need to apologize…apologize for the situation that ICWF put you in. You’re in a lose lose situation Brimstone, I mean it really isn’t fair what they did to you. Keeping you off the cards since your last win just to put you in a match that you have no hope or prayer of wining. I am going to burry you Brimstone, I am going to burry your career just to further my purpose, my purpose of proving myself here. It isn’t fair to the world that the ICWF has the people they do in the positions they do. The world deserves better and there going to get it.

Roberts turns around and leans on the railing. Gazing over the empty arena.

Primetime: I heard you were out looking for me Brimstone…wanting to get a piece of me before our match at Rumble.

Roberts turns around and faces the camera.

Primetime: You see problem is you were only looking were you knew I wasn’t going to be. I’m not a hard man to find, who is scared now? You act big and bad, but the truth is you’re a scared little boy who wants everyone to fear your costume, and when you know it isn’t working you try so hard to prove to everyone that I am so afraid of you, when there is no evidence that I am. The reason you feel the need to convince everyone that I am so afraid is because you know I’m not. I couldn’t really care less, tell everyone how scared I am Brimstone, because I will tell everyone how I beat your ass at Rumble. When I am done with you, your going to prey that I forget your name. If you were searching so hard for me why didn’t you come up here to the rafters and find me? There are a lot of people who know I am up here. In fact, I put a camera man down on the floor to show you that you can see me on this catwalk from the floor. Are you sure you didn’t see me up here?

Roberts laughs and then continues.

Primetime: My reputation speaks for itself, everyone knows my name. Yet you spend so much time trying to convince everyone around you that I am not all that I say I am. I think that is because you are the one who is scared. Scared that you are walking into a buzz saw at Rumble. You don’t want to believe that you are facing a legend? You actually think you are facing Bo Bo the Clown or something? Call me all the names you want Stoner, you know and I know and anyone you talk to will tell you just how great I am. Everyone knows your going down at Rumble, the Las Vegas Odds makes have me favored to win ten to one over you. I am the King of Kings, what is my kingdom? This…this is my kingdom.

Roberts turns and waves his arm over the empty arena paying particular attention to the ring.

Primetime: And when I am done with you I will go ahead and take that big lumpy stone throne that you like to sit on as well. You see, this…this is my world. I created this place, without “Primetime” Paul Roberts wrestling wouldn’t be here. Its because of me, that you have the opportunity to be a wrestler. Without “Primetime” Paul Roberts you wouldn’t be able to hide your ugly face behind that stupid mask, you would be working at fat burger, and you would go home every night wishing you were me. But because of me, you can go on being a mediocre wrestler, who’s only goals are to punch kick and stomp. I have given your career life and you choose to squander the gift I have given you. Lets see Brimstone, lets see how much longevity you have. Lets see if anyone remembers your name in ten years, hell lets see if anyone knows who you are in two years. I’m in your head Brimstone, everyone can see it, I have already won. Ha ha…you have no chance.

Chad walks into the arena, walking down the ramp and into the ring, he can see Roberts filming up in the rafters, from the middle of the ring Chad shouts out.

Chad: PAUL….WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP THERE?

The camera switches back to the one in the rafters focused on Paul. Roberts smiles looking into the camera.

Primetime: So many people are afraid to do what it takes to get to the top, Brimstone obviously is one of them. But you know what…The view is great from up here.

Roberts says as he looks down at the ring. The camera fades to black
