Pre-Wrestling History of "Primetime" Paul Roberts

Prior to Paul Roberts gaining recognition as the greatest superstar who ever lived in professional wrestling he also had a rather interesting past in acting. Everything from his nickname “Primetime” to his personal production company “Planet Primetime Productions” has its foundations in his past as an actor before he became a wrestler.

After promptly moving to Hollywood California in search of his dream of being an actor he wasted no time auditioning for parts. Here is a list of movies and roles that Roberts auditioned for but did not get picked for the role.

“The Rundown” – Beck

Along with numerous other roles he was turned down for because of his inexperience as an actor and arrogant attitude.

After being turned down for several leading roles in big budget Hollywood blockbusters, Chad convinced Paul to try his hand at primetime TV movies with directors more willing to cast unknown unproven actors in leading roles. Along with many, many more films he became so well recognized for his primetime TV movies that TV Guide recognized him as primetime’s most successful male lead. And deeming him “Primetime” Paul Roberts, eventually Nielsen media research discovered that the main reason people tuned into Roberts movies was to see him. It was upon this discovery that WCF owner Trevor Ulmer called Paul Roberts on the phone and invited him to become a regular on his program, Sunday Night Hangover. Roberts agreed to sign an exclusive appearance contract that restricted him from appearing in films while he was contracted to the WCF. It was then that Roberts created his own production company “Planet Primetime Productions” to film and produce vignettes to appear on local and cable TV stations along with SEM the broadcasting network that produced Hangover, and WCF TV. His vignette appearances on primetime tv slots on numerous local and cable TV stations were blocks of purchased time that were bought by Roberts himself.Again regularly scoring high numbers in the Nielsen Ratings, nearly every time beating out the programs that would normally broadcast that same time any other day of the week. During his time in the WCF Roberts found a new calling that of a professional wrestler who was without a doubt headed to the Hall of Fame some day.
