PISTA SA NAYON CELEBRATION
CELEBRATING OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY
June 05, 2010
Traders Village, Grand Prarie,TX

Today we celebrated our 112th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day from the grasp of Spain. It is our obligation to our ancestors, especially to the heroes who poured out their blood and laid down their lives for our freedom, that we remember them always. We started our celebration with a parade to honor our ancestors, a Santa Cruzan procession to show case our culture, and Flag raising ceremony to honor our Fatherland. Traditional folk dances performed by the Maharlika group and other local groups were done to the big delight of those present, this was followed by the Pinoy superstar competition. It's a celebration full of fun and lots of food for the whole family. It was a huge success with lot of Filipinos present for the celebration.

" Our remembrance of our heroes would be more meaningful if we show our own heroism in fighting the challenges of the present time, the progress of our economy, our continued march to progress. This is the key to our total independence -- the freedom of our people from the oppression of poverty. Gloria Arroyo.
