These are economically challenging times; keeping rates below the level of inflation is one way that Council can ease the pressure.

2. Community safety.

It is a priority to build partnerships and work collaboratively with the justice-sector, community groups and Government agencies to help reduce offending and improve public safety.

3. Prosperous business sectors and rewarding employment opportunities.

It is vital that Hamilton has a thriving business community. This is about being creative and looking for opportunities to rise above the recession.

4. Preserving our city heritage and the spirit of Hamilton.

This is an issue which is close to the hearts of anyone born and raised in Hamilton.

5. Sustainable Governance; better long term planning and urban design.

Working with residents, organisations and leaders to enhance living standards, promote a safe city and improve our quality of life.

Personal Profile

I have lived in Hamilton all of my life.

Carmen and I share three Daughters and two Grandchildren.

I have more than 20 years business success as Managing Director of Tree Power Ltd.

People know me for my participation in community projects, sporting events and fund raising.

This is my second term as one of the Directors of Hamilton Rotary; where the Motto is "Service Above Self"

Rotary supports programmes for youth, educational opportunities and vocational and career development

I volunteer at the Fairfield Community Constable Office; answering queries and general office duties.

I was recently involved with a local version of "Dancing With the Stars"; which raised considerable funding for Hospice.

I am a regular participant at Christmas in the Park and lend my support to many other Community events.

"Possum" is recognised nationally and internationally as iconic supporter of local Rugby;

conducting lolly scrambles and playing popular tunes on my chainsaw.

I often speak at local school events; including "Big Boys Breakfast" at Rhode Street and Nawton School as well as "Guy Time" at Silverdale Normal School.

I believe that City Councilors have a responsibility to work for the best interests of families, residents and ratepayers.
