Aloha visitor! My name is not really important at this time. I am a very simple person and have felt a little different from everyone all my life even my family. So when I happened upon the topic of Paganism on the internet one night at work a bright light of interest came on. For years now I have loved the movie "Mists of Avalon" and the way it tells the story of Arthur and his sister. The religion of the time always puzzled me but I never thought to research it. I have always been interested in learning about other religions since I was young. It started because I attended both a Baptist Church and a Church of Christ throughout my elementary and junior high years.
The next day I went to the book store and picked up "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Paganism." In the first chapter it gives a list of "Telltale Signs of a Pagan Personality." Out of the 9 signs 7 of them matched me perfectly and 2 were partial matches.
The first sign was right on the nails head: Most pagans love nature. The first half of my life I spent lots of time in the great outdoors with my brothers, cousins, and friends. During the school year the best part of the day was recess and when the last bell rang to let us go home. Summer for us was just a SUPER long weekend. The summer for us was spent at the lake, the local park, the public pool, or someone's backyard. A sleepover was never done inside unless it was below 50 degrees outside.
After going through the list of telltale signs and so many of them being a match I just couldn't put the book down. As I continued to read I found that there are already some aspects of the pagan way of life that I already live by and believe. Please do not get me wrong about my upbringing in the church setting but to me it has also felt too strict. I never really understood somethings but I participated anyways because I was told to and that was just how life was for me. For years though when asked by someone, "What religion are you?" or "What church do you attend?" I have always answered back, "I am just a religious person of many beliefs." or "I do not attend church a church but further my studies on my own."
