PINE NEEDLER’S QUILT GUILD

General Meeting – May 15, 2007

 

Call to Order:

            Vice President Judy Basey called the meeting to order at 6pm. 

Darlene Arnold lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Members present -29 ; Guests - Judy Baptiste and Cheryl Ludolph.

 

Treasurer’s Report: 

Deanna Small reported the Checkbook Balance - $6,974.00

Committee Reports:

Block of the Month: Liz Mattingly – Winner of the “Cabin” blocks was Lillian Cravens. 

Next month’s block is “Jacob’s Ladder”.

The last pattern will be the “Maple Leaf”. 

Judy Basey asked that at least 10 people participate next month.

            Library:  

Pat Helling explained her job description as the Librarian. 

Ann Johnson has offered to be the Librarian next year.

Due to Ann’s health, she has asked for an assistant. Many in the Guild offered to help.

Quilt Stroll:

June 9th, 2007 – Sandy Smith reported that she has the white gloves. 

More “white glove” volunteers are needed.  White Glove volunteers should meet at the amphitheater at Mary Laveroni Park, prior to their scheduled time.

 

May 24th at 2pm at the Groveland Fire Station, there will be training to tie knots.

A Team Captain and 10 others will be chosen to be taught and they will pass their

training on to others.

Sandy needs 20 more volunteers to hang & take quilts down.

Volunteers to hang quilts should meet at the Library at 6:30am on Saturday.

 Attention Volunteers: Please wear your badges! 

Sandy also reported on the types of demonstrations that will be done at the Park. 

Trunk Shows will be held at the Park at 10am, 1pm and 3pm.

Alex Anderson will be at Bunny Rose & Co. to autograph her books.

Catherine Santa Maria has offered to lend the Guild her popcorn

making machine and provide soda. 

The “Seniors” have offered to open the See’s Candy booth to sell suckers.

June Ross has volunteered to take photographs throughout the Stroll.

Deanna Small said that the Boutique will be below the stage area.

More items are needed.

Parking is up to each person (car-pooling is suggested).

There are 5 parking signs that were made.

There is no map and there is no officer to direct traffic or parking.

Sandy Smith is in charge of the Trash cans, provided by GCSD.

Liz Mattingly suggested that the Guild take cookies to the Fire Station

in appreciation for their help.

If anyone needs medical attention, refer them to the Fire Station.

 

Opportunity Quilt:  Judy Basey reported that the following members were

involved in making the Opportunity Quilt: Lillian Cravens,

Pauline Underwood, Jan Sloan and Juli Citarelli.

It is now being quilted by Deanna Small. Wina Helm will bind it.

Raffle tickets for the “Old & New” quilts will be sold at 6 tickets for $5.

 

Programs: 

Cheryl Hadley could not be present to do her trunk show. 

Ann Laffin and Lillian Cravens provided a video on “Precision Piecing by Sally Collins. 

A game was also played with the sewing kits that members were asked to bring.

Those who had certain items were given gifts related to quilting/sewing.

Next month will be our Installation of Officers meeting

which will be held at Catherine Santa Maria’s home,:

21190 Jimmersal Lane on Tuesday, June 19th, beginning at 4pm.

The PNQG will be taking care of the cost.

Liz Mattingly seconded.

Anita Millard volunteered to be the Refreshments Chairperson.

Bernice Evora – “Around the Twist” quilt (quilted by Deanna Small) & Placemats

Sandy Smith – Alaskan Bear quilt & Raccoon quilt

Jan Sloan – “Diamonds by Jan” nine-patch quilt with appliquéd flowers

 

Raffle Winners: 

Jane Peters, Lillian Cravens, Anita Millard, Ann Laffin, Flo Jansen, Jan Sloan, Darlene Arnold and June Ross.

Announcements:

            Lillian Cravens reminded everyone that the Crayola Crayon quilt

Challenge is due at the next meeting.

Dues for the coming year are due next month ($25).

Mary Brown said there will be a Memorial Walk on

Saturday, May 26th, beginning at 10am at the cemetery.
