Committee Reports:

Block of the Month: Liz Mattingly explained the instructions for next month’s block.

Next month all three blocks will be done: Tulip Block; Birds in the Air; Lady in the Lake.  Block instruction can be found on the internet at Pineneedlers.com

Library:  Pat Helling reported on the books we have in the Library.

Quilt Stroll: (June 9th, 2007) – Sandy Smith reported that many local quilt shops/guilds have been contacted regarding the Quilt Stroll.

Sandy also handed out forms and requested that one form per quilt be returned to Harriett Zoggas by April 20th (none will be accepted after that date).

Guild members were asked to submit at least two quilts/wall-hangings and to put a story about the quilt and its dimensions on the back of each form.

Each quilt must also have a “sleeve” on the back for hanging.

You may also want to pin a sheet on the back of your quilts, so they don’t get dirty when hung against a building.

June Ross volunteered to type the cards to go on each quilt. She also volunteered to be the photographer & historian of the event.

Lillian Cravens and Deanna Small volunteered to be a subcommittee for the Boutique at the Quilt Stroll.

Men are still needed to help with hanging quilts, starting at 7am.

A class is being held at the Groveland Fire Dept. in May on how to tie knots that won’t come undone.

Joyce Reitzen reported that advertising has been done in the following area newspapers: Sonora Union Democrat; Twain Harte; Valley Springs; Yosemite Hwy Herald;

Pine Mtn Lake News; American Quilter’s Newsletter and the local radio station.

Flyers have also been sent to local quilt shops and guilds.

Mary Brown suggested putting an ad on Alex Anderson’s website - thequiltshow.com

Liz Mattingly suggested having one main booth at the Park for the sale of smaller, quilted items.

Lillian Cravens suggested putting tags on any quilts offered for sale.

The Membership voted unanimously in favor of having one main booth at the Park and for putting “for sale” tags on quilts.

Bunny Kite offered the use of her credit card machine for purchases of any quilts.

White-gloved  ladies will be the only ones permitted to touch the quilts.

Sandy Smith reported that she has contacted “Porta-Potty” and reserved the date

(cost is $134 per potty).  She is also checking on the availability of a bus for transportation (cost would be $245/day).

Catherine Santa-Maria suggested splitting the cost with GCSD.

Ann Johnson suggested splitting the cost with Hwy 120 Chamber of Commerce.

The Quilt Stroll Committee will also be contacting some of the local restaurants to see if they will provide specials for lunches.

Programs:

Lillian Cravens and Juli Citarelli talked about the Quilt Challenge, due in June.

Each member of the guild was asked to pick three crayons out of a paper bag, w/o looking, and those colors will be used to make their Challenge quilts (vests, pillows, bags…are acceptable).

Black and white can also be added to the colors chosen.
