PINE NEEDLER’S QUILT GUILD

General Minutes – November 21st, 2006

 

Call to Order:

            Mary Bruederle called the meeting to order at 6:05pm.

Mary Brown lead Pledge of Allegiance.

Members present – 35; Guests – Anita Barber, Cami Hallsted, Norma Menacho, Lynne Orloff, Barbara Proctor, Maenette Proctor and Jane Reynolds.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

In absence of Deanna Small, Wina Helm passed out the Treasurer’s report.

            Balance Forward:         $8,320.87

            Total Expenses:            $5,725.00

Checkbook Balance:    $8,413.37

 

Committee Reports:

Block of the Month: Liz Mattingly presented next month’s block: “Log Cabin”.

Betty Boatman won last month’s blocks.  Newsletter & Block-of-the-Month available on website PineNeedlers.com  (Members w/o computers will receive it by mail). 

Library – Lonnie Roman donated books.

Quilt Stroll – (June 9th, 2007) Sandy Smith reported that 100 quilts/wall-hangings are needed. Volunteers are needed to help with parking. Permits can’t be obtained until January. 

 

Community Service:

            Kid’s Camp:  Judy Cozad said she has received about 50 pillowcases. Wina Helm, Joyce Reitzen & Barbara Rife donated more pillowcases.

 

Programs:

            Pauline Underwood shared experiences of slaves from Gee’s Bend and a book, “The Quilt’s of Gee’s Bend”.  Exhibit at DeYoung Museum in San Francisco until Dec. 31st, 2006.

            Pauline shared her mother’s “Nine-Patch” hand-tied quilt & polyester-patch quilt-top and her grandmother’s “Tree of Life” & “Bird in the Window” hand-tied quilts.

Lillian Cravens shared her great-grandmother’s quilt (circa 1920’s) –“Birds in the Air”.

Coline Simmons shared a hand-quilted/appliquéd, 10x10-ft quilt & two ethnic quilts.

Winners of the Holiday Blocks: Ann Laffin, Ann Johnson, Coline Simmons, Lillian Cravens and Judy Basey.

Ann Laffin passed around a sign-up sheet for Sandy Turner’s workshop – Feb. 21, 2007 at Groveland Community Center ($30 per person).

 

Refreshments: 

Program Committee provided refreshments.  Volunteers for next meeting: Sandy Smith, Sue Halstead & Irene Rhyne.

Old Business:

            Craft Fair – Lillian Craven’s read a list of those contributing food.

 

New Business:

             Holiday Party – President Mary Bruederle brought before the Guild the choice of either having the Party at the Charlotte/ PML Country Club or having a “Pot-Luck” & Hors d’oeuvres.  Membership voted for the PML Country Club, Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 6pm.

Calling Committee will contact members for RSVP’s.

 

Announcements:

            Lillian Craven’s reported that the Soldier Kits she mailed were received.

            Juli Citarelli said Pillowcases & Baby Quilts are needed for Soldiers & their families.
