PINE NEEDLER’S QUILT GUILD

General Meeting – April 17, 2007

 

Call to Order:

            Ann Laffin called the meeting to order in place of President Mary Bruederle at 6:00 pm.  Jean Cox lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were 35 members present and 1 guest – Lynn Sigafoose.

New Members are Carol Willmon and Ida Gaglio.

Treasurer’s Report:

Approved.

Jan Sloan won the fabrics that were offered for filling-out the roster update forms.

Committee Reports:

Block of the Month: Liz Mattingly presented next month’s block—“Cabin”.

Ann Johnson won the “Tulip” blocks; Lillian Cravens won the “Lady of the Lake” blocks and donated them to Pauline Underwood.

Jan Sloan won the “Birds in the Air” blocks.

Old Business:

Baker’s Camp:  Judy Cozad reported that she has received about 700 pillowcases.

Name Tags:  Wina Helm said new Name-Tags are now available.  Please replace your old ones. Put your names on them/decorate any way you choose.

Opportunity Quilt: Jan Sloan reported that it will be ready for the Quilt Stroll.

Quilt Stroll – (June 9th, 2007)  Joyce Reitzen said that everyone on Main Street is in favor of having quilts hung on their shops.

Sandy Smith reported that the bus has been cancelled. There will be 30 parking spaces available in front of the gym at Tenaya School. Volunteers are needed to shuttle “White Glove” ladies back/forth.

“White Glove” & tour guides should wear badges. Guild is providing the white gloves.

A volunteer is needed to wait for the “Porta-Potty” delivery, starting at 8:30am (contact Sandy Smith).

April 20th is the deadline for turning in forms to display quilts in the Stroll.  June Ross has volunteered to type the tags for each quilt.

Fran Fears asked that everyone bring their quilts/items to the Library between 9am – 4pm on June 8th.   

In order to display your quilt, there must be a “sleeve” on the back, measuring 4” x the width of the quilt.

Sandy Smith said each person will receive a receipt, which you must keep in order to reclaim your items. Each quilt will have a number that will correspond to the receipt number.

Deanna Small, head of the Boutique Committee, said there is no limit on the number of items you want to sell. 

Each person should fill-out a form for their own merchandise.

Include a 15% increase over what you want to make in the sale

(10% to the guild; 3% to Bunny Kite for the use of her credit card machine; plus sales tax).  Items for sale may either be displayed in town or in the Boutique. 

Quilt Racks, Baskets, Coat Racks, etc. are needed for displaying items. Paper bags with handles are also needed.

New Business: 

Ann Laffin reported that the nominees for next year’s Board of Directors are as follows: 

President – Judy Basey

Vice President – Lonnie Roman;

Treasurer – Deanna Small

Recording Secretary – Diane Watson

Corresponding Secretary – Anita Millard

Director of Programs – Lillian Cravens (to be voted upon at the May meeting).

            Diane Watson reminded everyone that the

“Installation of Officers” Meeting will be held on June 19th

at Catherine Santa Maria’s home, with swimming at 4pm and dinner at 5 – 6pm.

Cost is $12 per person.

Next month’s goodies will be provided by Harriett Zaggas, Bernice Evora and Flo Jansen.

 

Programs: 

Basket Auction:

Catherine Santa Maria was the Auctioneer. There were 14 baskets auctioned off.  Lillian Cravens reported that the auction brought $785.00

            Next month’s program – Ann Laffin requested that each member bring a “sewing kit”, with whatever you think should be put in it.  The rest is a surprise!         

Ann also mentioned that there will be a “Mini Quilt Run” on Thursday, May 17th.

Meet at M.L. Park at 9am. Cost is $5 per/person.

Oakdale, Tracy and Modesto quilt shops will be visited.

The color crayon “Quilt Challenge” will be shown/judged at the June Meeting.

            Bunny Kite is holding an “Open House” at her Yurt.

            PNQG Dues are due in June, 2007
