Fort Weyr has undergone many changes since the 9th Pass in WeyrLeadership. In the middle of the 10th Pass, Fort was badly damaged by a rock slide. Ch'san of Bronze Romaryth was the WL since Fort's restoration, though the WW changed rather frequently (or so it seemed). Illyana was the first, but left before Fort could even be rehabitated.
Two gold Impressed at the first clutch, and one of the gold candidates was kidnapped prior to the Hatching by a group of riders, and brought back in time so she could return to the present as a fully graduated goldrider. This weyrwoman was, of course, Atlante, and once Ch'san got over being furious with the riders (and Atlante) for disappearing, she became the Senior Weyrwoman. The two fell in love and had a boy together, named Chesante. This however was the beginning of health problems for both - Ch'san was injured during a tornado that struck the Bowl, and Atlante suffered several illnesses that ultimately led to her leaving Fort to recuperate.
Karige of gold Lyreth was brought in from Southern. She'd been Xavier's WW for a short time, but she was forced to resign when a hefty price was put on her head by a notorious renegade group. She emerged from hiding to become Fort's Senior Weyrwoman, and has been WW ever since. Karige is one of the few people on Pern who has the ability to "Hear All Dragons (HAD)". This means that unlike most people who can only hear their dragon or a dragon that is speaking to them, Karige can hear all the gossipy chatter of EVERY dragon. In the 9th Pass, Armina and Lessa had this ability. As you can imagine, this gift can also be quite annoying if it's not controlled. Karige has managed to teach herself techniques to maintain her sanity.
Ch'san was kidnapped a Turn ago, by his brother, Chelane, and his wife Sicia. He was drugged and brainwashed by them, kept prisoner and hidden from his dragon. Ch'san was discovered only when the woman who was unwittingly perpetuating his amnesia realized her mistake and set fire to the hold to 'burn out the evil' (she was mentally unstable due to the same drugs Ch'san was forced to take). Ch'san was returned to health, though only in time to find out that Atlante had left for the South, leaving him Chesante. He later fell in love with his healer, a woman named Eirtae, who Impressed a crippled green at the first Hatching upon their return.
The period during Ch'san's kidnapping was a time of great chaos and low morale for the Weyr - which was topped only by Lyreth rising to mate while both Ch'san and Romaryth were missing. Lyreth was caught by An'desha and his bronze, a mentally traumatized and amnesiac rider. During Ch'san's absence Karige found love, in the form of the captain of the Weyrguard, a man named Conal. Lyreth's most recent Flight has restored Ch'san to the WLship, much to the joy of the Weyr (and relief of An'desha!), and now both leaders are happily settled with their respective mates.
