Shark

India ink on paper. 12" x 16". 2002.
The classic cheap plastic shark toy that every kid has to have; I think I had a couple of them. I played in india ink quite a bit before I really embraced color in my work. Practicing with ink was the start of my realization that painting would eventually end up my area of emphasis. I immediately loved the feel and process of working with a liquid medium and mark-making with brushes. Gaining control over the flow of ink on paper was an exciting step for me.
