Helping Poor Families

Everyone needs help when they are down. Poor people with small children need the most help. So how can we help them? The usual answer is donation. There are many organizations dedicated to helping out the poor. People donate many things to help out those in need. Money, canned food, clothes, and toys are just a few donated things to help out poor families. However, donation is not the only way to help those in need. Education is a stronger tool than anything else in the world. There is an old saying that goes, “Give me a fish and I’ll eat for a day. Teach me to fish and I’ll eat for a lifetime.” That saying is so true about life in general. If someone is taught a skill, and he or she can put it to good use, that person will have the means to survive.

If I was becoming a parent, I would be honored to have someone teaching me a school subject. I would put my education up on a high priority so that I would know how to help out my own child with his or her school work. I know my kids will look to me for help somewhere down the road. I do not want to look like an uneducated failure to them.

Tutoring is not going to be easy, I know that. Like everything else in life, problems will arise. Patience is one of the top problems. I am not a patient person, but I am steadily learning to be one. I think tutoring will help me learn to be more patient with people. Plus, the students might have problems with language. So, I might have to have a translator by my side to help me with some of the communication. Another thing I have to consider with tutoring is my ADD. I have a tendency to let my mind wander off and get off track. If I have a little help with keeping me on task, then I know that I will do fine. Other than that, I am confident that I will do just fine.
