The Dying

The animals gathered outside at the gym track. Today was the day of the races. Go-cart races, that is. Rob vs. Artemis today. The boys sat at the track waiting. The engines roared for the road. Guess who everyone mostly cheered for? Well, almost everyone.

    "Go Robbie!!!" they all yelled.

"Crush his ugly head, Robbie-kun!!!" Noiz yelled.

"Go Artemis!" June cried. "I know you can do it!" Everyone ignored her there. Rob and Artemis looked on at the road ahead of them.

"You're going down, piggy!" the mouse boosted.

"You wish!" the pig shot back. Himeko waved the flag for them the cars to go. They took off racing. The animals cheered Rob on. June yelled for Artemis. The race looked really close. In the middle of it, Noiz began to feel really dizzy. She shook her head of it and took deep breaths. Graham noticed when he looked over at her.

"Noiz," he spoke up. "What's the matter?" The cat looked up at him looking like she would throw up. She quickly shook her head at him.

"Nothing, I'm fine," the kitty lied. Graham looked at her unconvinced. Something was really wrong. Noiz never really got sick like this before. The Brit watched her closely. The race dragged on for three more laps. The end results looked really close. Artemis tried to cheat by bumping Rob off of the road. The plan seemed to work... at first. Suddenly, the pig found himself stuck by the wheels. He couldn't get away from Rob's cart. The mouse looked at him confused.

"What the hell are you doing?!?" he yelled. "Are you crazy?!?" The pig didn't answer. He kept trying to get unstuck again. Too bad he couldn't accomplish that fast enough. Both males came close to the wall. June watched on in terror.

"THEY'RE GOING TO CRASH!!!" she screamed. Guess what happened? Both carts hit a bump and crashed right into the grass. The drivers fell out of the vehicles. Rob stood up and looked around. All of the animals had hurried over to see if he was okay. Rob smiled and gave them all a V-sign. They all looked relived. Artemis looked around at everyone.

"Hey, I'm okay if anyone cares..." he said in a small voice. No one paid him any mind at all. June rushed over to her boss.

"Oh Artemis!" she cried. "I'm so glad you're alright!" She hugged him happily on the ground.

"June, you're touching me!" the pig said quickly.

"Sorry!" his secretary said quickly as she let go of him. Meanwhile, Rob looked among the crowd. He noticed one animal missing.

"Where's Momo?" he asked. Everyone looked up at that question. The animals all looked around the path and track. They found that cat passed out in the grass. All of the animals fell into panic.

"Momo-sama!!!" Rob yelled as he shook her hard. "Momo, wake up! Wake up!" He checked for vital signs. Good, the kitty was still breathing, but out cold. The mouse boy looked up at the crew.

"Call for emergency!!!" he yelled. "Quickly!!!" In two hours, an ambulance came and picked up Noiz. Rob rode with her all the way to the hospital. The cat still reminded out like a light. Rob held her hand firmly between his.

"Hang in there, Momo!" he whispered to her. "We're almost to the hospital!" He kissed her on the hand. They made it all the way to the hospital. Noiz got rushed into the ICU. Rob stood out in the waiting room nervously. This didn't look good! Not good at all. The mouse boy paced around biting his lip. Artemis sat in the room on the phone. Probably plotting what to do with Noiz's body when she dies. Rob wanted to punch him in the face. How the hell could the pig think of money at a time like this? Someone ought to smack that little piggy upside his head. Bah, what good would that do? Artemis still wouldn't change. And besides, Noiz needed him here. Time dragged its big feet across the room.

Several hours later, the doctors came into the room. Rob hurried over to him.

"Hey is she, doctor?" he asked desperately. The doc looked at him really grimace. The mouse boy really panicked now.

"It's not good," the doctor replied.

"What do you mean by that?" Rob asked. The doctor shook his head.

"Her heart is failing," he explained further. "She's dying, Benson-san." The mouse trembled all over and became really pale. He dropped his head in sorrow. Those words crushed him so. Noiz was dying? No, it couldn't be! He had to be certain.

"Are you sure about that?" the mouse pleaded desperately. The doctor nodded at him grimly.

"I'm so sorry, son," he replied. Rob dropped his head in sorrow. So, it was true. Noiz was really... dying! The mouse couldn't believe it all. A loud laughter of happiness shot the mood right in the chest. The mouse and the doctor looked up to see the pig laughing out loud. He hung up the phone in joy.

"Yes!!!" he cheered. "I finally got my wish!!! Noiz is dying! I will finally be able to have some peace and quiet at last!!!" Artemis laughed aloud in joy. *Plus-cross on Rob's head* He held down his temper with the pig long enough. That outburst was the final crack in the thin ice. He just couldn't take the pig's insensitivity any longer.

"Will you shut up, you f*****g asshole?!?" the mouse yelled. "How much of a rude prick can you be?!?" The pig shut and went quiet. The mouse turned back to the doctor once he had calmed down.

"Can I... see her now?" he asked in a trembling soft voice. The doc opened his mouth to speak again. However before any words could come out of his mouth, a nurse raced into the waiting room looking surprised.

"Doctor!!!" she cried. "It's a miracle! Johnson-san is alive and perfectly healthy again!" Artemis, Rob, and the doctor looked at her with wide-eyed surprise.

"WHAT?!?" they all yelled in shock. Rob pushed the surprised doctor aside and ran down the hall while Artemis wept in bitter defeat. The mouse couldn't believe this turn at all. He made it back to his lover's room. Noiz sat up alive and well in bed. In fact, she was grinning happily. She looked up and saw him. Rob breathed out relief.

    "You're alive!" he cried.

"Yeah," the cat replied. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"You collapsed after the race earlier today," her pet answered. Noiz thought about that for a second. Then, it all pieced together beautifully in her mind. Her eyes lit up at such revelation.

"Oh," the kitty replied, loosely. "I know what happened. My powers surged in my body temporarily and caused my whole body to almost shut down. I'm fine now that I've rested up some." Rob breathed out again.

"Promise me you won't do that again," he responded. Noiz smiled at him kindly.

"I promise," she spoke. They even took a pinky oath on that one for extra measures.
