Bedtime is a restful time, right? Not always. Check out exhibit A.

10:00 p.m. at Jounouchi’s new apartment. Mai is in the process of moving in with him. He had saved up enough to rent this place away from his father. The young man needed a new place for his growing family. Their daughter, Rihoko, was born two years ago. Two separate homes didn’t work out for two children. So, Jounouchi came up with a little plan.

Mai herself wasn’t too crazy about this plan. “You’re still in high school,” she told him.

“But, I love you, Mai-chan,” he said. “We even have a child together. We’re going to have another one on the way as well.”

“But that’s no reason to get married!” she yelled.

“Why not?” he asked.

“Because, you’re still in high school,” Mai tried to reason.

“And?” her boyfriend asked.

“You should at least graduate and get a job first,” she pointed out.

“But I have a job,” Jounouchi insisted.

“I mean a real job,” she said. “A paper route is not enough to support a wife and two children. And where are we going to live?” Jounouchi closed his mouth. He obviously hadn’t planned that far in his grand scheme of things. It was just mostly impulse taking over. Just like it did right now.

“At least move in with me!” he pleaded. Mai blinked at him.

“Where?” she asked. “You still live with your dad.”

“I’ll think of something,” Jounouchi said. His pregnant girlfriend didn’t believe him, of course. But, she just kept quiet about it. He wasn’t going to listen anyway.

It took work, but Jounouchi managed to rent an apartment that was closer to his school. After about three weeks of repairs, he called Mai up one evening.

“I got the apartment!” he announced.

“How?” his girlfriend asked.

“I’m renting a place near my school,” he said.

“What?” she asked.

“Just come out and look!” Jounouchi insisted. Mai sighed as she lowered her shoulders.

“Fine,” she said. In three hours, the mother-to-be drove out to the new apartment. Jounouchi stood out in the front, waiting for her. He grinned at her as she got out of the car.

“Well,” he said. “What do you think?” *Sweat drop on Mai’s head*

“You’re living here?” she asked. Her boyfriend nodded with a smile.

“This was the best that I could do,” he said. Mai’s eyes stayed on the abandoned-looking building behind him. Forget maintenance. This place needed to have a wrecking ball taken to it. The walls looked to be crumbling on the outside. The only thing that looked well-kept was the parking lot. Mai tried to keep back what she was truly thinking.

“And… how did you find this place?” she asked.

“Through different web sites!” Jounouchi said. “I finally came across this one. I talked to the owner and he approved me living here!” Mai sighed aloud. Oh boy…, she thought.

Never the less, she decided to try it out for a week just to humor her boyfriend. Which brings us back to the beginning of exhibit A.

Mai lied awake in the futon that she was sharing with her boyfriend. She groaned aloud in discomfort.

“Are you done in the bathroom yet?” she complained.

“Almost!” Jounouchi called back. Mai put the pillow over her head.

“Turn off the light!” she cried.

“I will!” he called back. His girlfriend grumbled again as she turned her back to the open bathroom door.

“The children and I want to sleep!” she moaned.

“You complaining at me won’t make me go faster!” Jounouchi shouted back. “Just be patient!” Mai groaned again.

“Fine,” she mumbled.

“Thank you,” her boyfriend said. He finished up brushing his teeth, cut off the light, and joined his girlfriend and baby in the futon. The young man gave her a little smile.

“Good night,” he whispered. Mai finally smiled back at him for once.

“Night,” she whispered back. Jounouchi patted her on the stomach lovingly.

“Night,” he whispered to the baby. Then, the couple went to sleep. That should be it, right?

Around midnight, Jounouchi felt a pair of skinny arms tightly pressed around his neck. He opened his eyes as his mouth were pressed up against a breast. He looked up and saw Mai holding him while he was sound asleep. She looked so peaceful. Jounouchi’s cheeks felt hot.

Damn, she’s close…, he thought. When did her boobs get bigger again? Mai still held onto him in her sleep. Her boyfriend began to feel a little more excited.

But yet, it feels good, he thought. That’s when the problem really kicked in. His face turned a light shade of baby blue.

I can’t breathe!, the young man thought. He tried to wiggle free from his sleeping girlfriend. But when he got free, he found himself trapped again.

Oh crap! Now, it’s her legs now!, Jounouchi thought. The baby starting to move around inside of Mai didn’t help matter either. The second-time father-to-be tried to push away from her. This continued on for all night long.

By sunrise, Mai awoke feeling fresh as a newly bloomed flower.

“Good morning Katsuya-kun…” she said. The woman noticed the tired look on her baby daddy’s face.

“Katsuya-kun?” she asked. “What’s wrong?” He didn’t speak. The young man just collapsed back into the futon. His girlfriend blinked at him, confused.

That’s strange…, she thought.
