History: Tvashtri is a member of an other-dimensional race of beings known as the Devas, who were worshipped as gods by the ancient Vedic and Hindu races on earth. The ancestors of the Devas were the Adityas, or children of Aditi, also known as Gaea, the ancestral goddess of all the gods of Earth. The Adityas had been overthrown by the Rakshasas, their eternal enemies, who had then been overthrown by the Devas lead by the gods, Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva. Tvashtri and several of the former Vedic deities were accepted into the new Hindu pantheon, but several were not, becoming known as Asuras, retired gods not recognized by the Hindu pantheon, or Yazatas, deities accepted by the god Varuna under Zoroasterism and who became Persian gods. Several Devas were honored in both the Hindu and Persian pantheons like Tvashtri, Atar and Soma.

As the god Visvakarma, Tvashtri constructed all the cities of the gods as well as the walls of Lanka, home of the monkey-gods from Nirvana. His daughter, Saranyu, was taken as a wife by his brother, Surya, and became mother of the gods, Soma and Yama as well as the divine sage, Manu, ancestor of the divine kings of India. Tvashtri was credited as creator of the world because all the kings of India could claim descent from him.

Tvashtri is still one of the most recognized gods in the Hindu pantheon. A benevolent and caring deity, he witnessed Thor's visit to Nirvana to procure the necessary life energies for the Asgardian gods and sided with Vishnu against the mad Titan Cronus as he invaded Nirvana. With the help of the Gods of Olympus and their champion, Wonder Woman, they managed to exile Cronus back to the underworld and restore order in the heavens.

Height: 6' 6"
Weight: 475 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black

Unusual Physical Features: In his godly form, Tvashtri has four arms and blue skin.

Strength Level: Tvashtri possesses superhuman strength enabling him to lift (press) around 45 tons under optimal conditions.

Known Superhuman Powers: Tvashtri possesses the conventional physical attributes of the Devas or Hindu gods. Like all of Devas, he is exceptionally long-lived, but he is not immortal like the Gods of Olympus. He has aged at an extremely slow rate since reaching adulthood and cannot die by any conventional means. He is immune to all Earthly diseases and is resistant to conventional injury. If he were somehow wounded, his godly life force would enable him to recover with superhuman speed. It would take an injury of such magnitude that it dispersed a major portion of his bodily molecules to cause him a physical death. Even then, it might be possible for a god of significant power, such as Varuna, Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva or for a number of Hindu gods of equal power working together to revive him. Tvashtri also possesses superhuman strength and his Deva metabolism provides him with far greater than human endurance in all physical activities. (Deva flesh and bone is about three times as dense as similar human tissue, contributing to the superhuman strength and weight of the Hindu gods.)

Tvashtri also has mystical skills of an unknown nature enabling him to mentally control and manipulate elements of fortification. He can create structures and whole cities out of pre-existing materials and place mystical enchantments on physical objects. He can bring his thoughts to mass, cast his voice and likeness across dimensional barriers and tamper with forces of the weather. His exact level of power is unrevealed.

Abilities: Tvashtri is a major architect and craftsman having created all the homes and weapons of the gods.

Weapons: Tvashtri has access to numerous weapons of Hindu design.

Comments: Tvashtri has yet to appear in either Marvel or DC Comics.
