Funeral Preparations Underway for MWB

Excelsior, MN (MOPJ) Funeral preparations for the Mid-Winter Blowout are underway and organizers are saying it will be the greatest celebration of death locals have seen.
Event Coordinator Dennis Kronberg spoke solemnly about the impending death and reminisced about the history of the Mid-Winter Blowout, now in its 10th and final year.
“MWB has always been a celebration, and that’s not going to change…even in its death,” Kronberg said. “It will always live on in our hearts and memories afterall.”
Mid-Winter Blowout was born of fire and brimstone on January 6, 1996 when Kronberg and a small group of hearty Minnesotans decided to have a party to celebrate the mid-point of winter and to “burn away the blues.” From its humble beginnings, MWB grew into an event of great anticipation from year to year and boasted everything from sacrificial Christmas tree burnings to deep fried turkeys to butt cheek warmers.
“The butt cheek warmers are really what people looked forward to in the later years,” Kronberg commented. “It wasn’t all about the fun, food, beer and bonfire, it was what the participants could expect to see in butt cheek warmer fashion.”
MWB originally started as an outdoor party but provided indoor accommodations for its 4th incarnation and has done so since. This year’s celebration will have a whole new venue and full bathroom facilities as well. Food and beer will be provided as well as top-notch, live entertainment provided by the Ross William Perry band.
“This will be the MWB to end all MWB celebrations!” Kronberg said. “If you miss this one, you’ve missed the best of them!”
MWBX was preceded in death by celebrations 1-9, the butt cheek warmers, deep fried turkeys, Christmas tree sacrifices, Jenn’s Mid-Winter Blown out Jeans, MWB Karaoke, the fume producing propane heater, and the MWB party garage.
