Guide to Internet Safety

After reading several articles about cybercrime, I decided to create this web page to answer basic questions about web safety. This page is designed for partial credit for my web page design projeect in my Introduction to Internet Class.

What is a virus?

A virus in todays terms is loosely used to refer to any type of malicious program, or is used to describe any bad thing that a malicious program does to a host system. In more general terms its defined as a program code that replicates.

After reading these articles. I came up with these suggestions for protecting my computer from crime.
  1. Dont open email from strangers
  2. Dont give out personal information

What is spam?

Spam, to many people believe it to be an unsolicitated email. However, this definition isn't etirely correct. Spam is, in the easiest way, is an anonymus, unsolicitated bulk email.
