James Madison Mission Statement
This mission statement may be the foundation of
what makes James Madison University such an amazing institution, but
what sets this University apart goes far beyond.
|

|
James Madison University was founded in 1908 as
an all women's state normal and industrial school. It was
38 years later, in 1946, that men began enrolling as students.
Since then, the campus has greatly expanded and enrollment has
boomed. For a more extensive history of James Madison, follow

James Madison is known for great academics and
great opportunities, but what might not show up in your college
review book, is that JMU has the most fun life around. A student
body of about 16,00 might seem intimidating, but you will soon
find that 16,00 must be the perfect number. This is
because you will run into friends constantly throughout campus,
yet can still meet new people at any time.
You can also find an entertaining event EVERY
night at James Madison. There are a number of great
student hangouts, like Taylor Down Under and the College Center,
and your sure to find a local band playing somewhere. Not
to mention our sports program, which is rapidly growing.
In fact, our football team was the 2004 DIV IAA National
Champions!
