In your time of greatest need

If only I’d been there

When you were blue and all alone

And often in despair.

When days were unfulfilled and dark

And oh, so wearisome

When the nights were long and lonely

If sleep refused to come….

When grief owned your emotions

And made your spirit sore

When you longed to just be comforted

And reassured once more….

When tears poured down like raindrops

And life seemed so unfair

I would have wiped them all away

If only I’d been there.
