I can't possibly list all the free patterns out there, so I try to select only the best of them. If you go to the home page of any of patterns that I have listed there will often be a link to free projects. That's how I find many of the patterns I list. I used to help others find patterns, but I found I was on-line all day doing this. So I decided to take better care of me, by setting up this pattern request page. This way: you guys can help each other out.

Don't worry I still hunt for new free patterns for guys, but I do it at my own pace. I really don't use these patterns myself. I have only used one of the patterns listed on this site: the T-shirt underwear pattern.

Archived Patterns

If the pattern is no longer available on the web, sometimes www.achive.org has them saved on their site. If so, I will link to them via archive. I mark those patterns as archived . During peak times, these pages may be slower to load. If too many people are using archive at one time, the site may not load at all. Archive may ask you to try again later. If for some reason, the pattern site has been deleted from archive, it will say 'not in archive'. Please report those to me as a dead link. Thanks.


New Patterns

Click on the linksunder Newest Patterns to see the lastest pattern links that I have added. Newest patterns are after dates in red . After 3 to 6 months after adding patterns, I change the date to gray .


PDF Patterns

Some hate PDF files so I marked those with PDF . PDF pages tend to be slower to load, and can hang up your computer, if really slow. If this goes on too long and you can't close the window, or hit stop (to stop it from loading), go into task manager and end the process (firefox, explorer, or netscape). This will probably close all your windows, boo hoo. So if you have windows that you don't want closed, try to be patient and wait for the file to load.

If only the pattern pieces are in PDF, I now mark those PDF pattern . This way, if you have dial up or a slow computer, you can still take a look at the item to see if you might like to make it. If it is something you really want, you can either be very patient to give it time to load, or try to make the pattern pieces yourself. Some patterns are simple shapes such as squares and circles. Sometimes they have a picture of the pattern pieces laid out on fabric or a grid. You can right click, then hit show image, then print that, and increase size if needed. If there is a will there is a way.

If you find a PDF pattern that is not marked let me know, by leaving a comment in my Guest Book . I miss them sometimes if the front page is HTML but pattern pieces are PDF.


If you see a pattern that you like...

Since web sites come and go with the wind, save the website to your own computer by right clicking on it and clicking on 'save as' and save it in someplace like, 'my sewing stuff' (you would have to create a folder called 'my sewing stuff' in a place like 'my documents' first), so you know where it is. If a web site dies so do all the images, so if you what those and the patterns pieces, save the images and pattern pieces, save those separately to your computer too. Your best bet is to just just print the pattern and instructions.

You may even want to save this site to your computer because I will not be able to run this site forever. I believe Angelfire would delete my site if not updated in years. In that case, you could find it on archive.


Need help downloading or making a pattern...

None of these patterns are mine, I just link to them. If you need help putting any of them together or wish to thank the owner of the pattern, look for an e-mail button on the site that the pattern exists. I do not open up new windows (implying outside links) because it can be a real pain to close them all. To avoid hitting the back button all the time, right click on the link, then 'open in a new window'. Since I do not open new windows, you may want to bookmark this page if you don't want to loose it. Adding patterns to my site

I used to ask permission to add links to my site. Unfortunately, most did not answer me, and the rest said thank you very much for adding my site to yours. So, I stopped asking as it is a lot of work keeping up with all those e-mails. If you do not wish your site to be linked to, I will be happy to remove it. Making Internet Ads Go Bye Bye

If you don't use Mozilla yet, go ahead and download it. It is wonderful.

Then download the addon called adblock plus . This prevents ads in your webpages.

And while you are at it, also download these addons:

  1. easy list
  2. easy privacy
  3. malware domains
from this webpage adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions

and this one:

  1. adult/dating ad block
from this site easylist.adblockplus

The last 4 addons are lists of malicious websites that will be blocked by adblock plus. Without these lists, adblock plus does not know what to block.


Remove this add on Adblock Filterset.G Updater - because this adon is no longer being supported by anyone

I also use noscript because it prevents those floating ads, and other hacking behaviour.

Using Adblock plus speeds everything up, because a lot of code does not have to run and there are no ads to display. Some sites use scripts for other purposes so you have the option of allowing sites if you need to.

You need to allow popups and scripts through your tools/options menu at the top of screen, for everything to work correctly. Adblock Plus will block scripts and popups, but if you choose to unblock the site, it won't work if your options are set up to keep them blocked. If you need more help then with this, ask your household computer guru.


Other addons I use

convertor - converts temps, currency, metric units, standard units

customizegoogle - removes google ads, after you customize your preferences.

dictionarysearch - looks up selected word in dictionary

hyperwords - highlight a word or phrase in a webpage and you can easily find it in a dictionary, google images, etc., by clicking on an item in a menu

imagezoom - allows to increase web image size

linkchecker - checks web pages for dead links

linkification - makes any web address a clickable link

scrapbook - saves web pages or a part of a web page

URL fixer - fixes common URL misspellings

ARCHIVE saves websites from the past for historical purposes. Cool huh?


I downloaded this neat addon for Firefox browser, called link checker. I click on link checker and it highlights all the dead links. If you download it too, you can run it and just avoid clicking on the dead ones. I promise I will fix the dead links as I add to that section, or a little at a time.

Unfortunately, if the dead URL was bought by someone else, the link may end up going someplace totally unexpected. Since the link is still technically valid, linkchecker will find the link. I will delete those types of links the next time I check the section.
