Star birth occurs

 in swirling clouds of gas and dust called nebulae.  The picture above is a nebula in a star– filled area. Image from

                   This photo,

released in 2003, is really the layering

of several pictures of the same nebula. The nebula is named NGC 604, and is in the galaxy M33.  According to scientists,

the stars in this galaxy are only 3 million years old, and are extremely hot.
