Personal Statement
My name is Rivette Pena and I have three beautiful children and a wonderful husband. I am fortunate enough to have a career I truly enjoy and am about to earn a Master's Degree. Quite an accomplishment for me. I believe that a person is not only about what they do but the effect they have on the world around them. I live my life for my children, my husband, family, friends and students. I try to put all of myself in what I do. Every moment of everyday is spent thinking of how I can improve our lives. When I die, I want people to take a moment out of their day and think to themselves, "Wow, she made a difference in my life because..." If I could accomplish that, I would die a happy woman. For now I concentrate on my immediate effect, such as being a good wife and mother. I am working on my Masters to become a better teacher and provider for my family. I currently teach at the middle school level and am not looking towards leaving the classroom. I would however,like to teach at the college level. I am toying with the idea of continuing my education and working towards a Doctorate in Education. My brother just received his PhD and we are so competetive. But seriously, I would love to retire from teaching children and move on to teaching the educators of the future. I am always looking for ways to leave my mark.
