Contra Costa Times (Walnut Creek, CA) - February 2, 2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deceased Name: Richard Delano Thoner July 30, 1934 - January 31, 2005 Born in Ellsworth, WI, lived for many years in Danville, CA at Blackhawk Country Club and most recently resided in Lincoln, CA. He served in the United States Army as a soldier in Korea. He worked in the field of law enforcement, as a building contractor and as a computer consultant. He was a passionate golfer as well as an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis of Lincoln, CA, his son and daughter-in-law, David and Shannon Thoner of Alamo, CA, his daughter and son-in-law, Paul and Linda Thoner Martel of Bend, OR, his five grandchildren, Emilee and Justin Morehead, Alyson and Madeline Thoner and Mason Martel, his brothers, Bob and Jack Thoner, his sister, Nancy Gothier, his mother-in-law, Bertha Zitnick, and his many, many friends. He died peacefully after a brief illness. A private family memorial service is planned. Friends may want to celebrate Dick's life on Super Bowl Sunday, one of his most favorite days.
