GOAL 1:

COMPLETED: 0%

With due haste, find the village Luincálë speaks of in his letter. The wizards have reached Minas Morgul with 'pack, steed, and self.' Plan the company's next step from this last outpost according to information the party has thus gathered. Take care not to pause for long; it is not well known what dangers threaten Luin and his charge.

This letter reached Isengard several months earlier and is the Istari company's reason for now being at Minas Morgul. It bore a seal of blue wax imprinted with the image of a five pointed flower over an anvil. Other intricacies if the seal have fallen to time and wear. It so reads in Quenyan:

Istari of Isengard,

I send you quick greetings and a hope that the weather there is fairer than here, which I assure you, it is. I write to you sitting on the shores of the sea of Nurnen in Mordor. I am in no immediate danger, nor am I forced to stay here, but I have burdened myself with the troubles of these people and cannot leave them now. My leaving to deliver you this message would also be against my own want of haste and so I will await for you in the coming months with the expectation that you will arrive swiftly. Peril grows in Lithlad. Its people are hardy and knowledgeable of the lands, yet without the firm might of Sauron keeping the orcs in fear, their villages have become targets of invasion. The Lithladhrim have no central leadership through which they may work together, and part of my hope lies in bringing them in council. Gondor's army marches in the north and will not be here, at least, until year's end and the orcs have already destroyed a village on the far east shores of Nurnen in their retreat from that same army.

The villages of Lithlad have no animosity between them, having lived under the gaze of Sauron for so long they work well together. Their inexperience lies in finding organization among one another, for even Sauron knew there would be need to have order here. Only, he did not want these people to arise against him. There is a general dislike for those outside Mordor. I have been here for several weeks and only a single family trusts me and I live among them. A newfound aquaintence, who has given trust to me has taken a ship across the sea to a village north of here and should be back in coming days with news.

We greatly need your help. The villages have little protection, only the walls of gnarled wood piles that have been stacked in fear and haste. Perhaps then we can help build the defenses of these villages or find a place of meeting for times of trouble. I see much potential in the fields here. They are highly fertile but the plants are short and starchy. While there equipment is efficient in ideal repair, all is dilapidated. They have only a small number of boats, so travel is slow between the three remaining villages that have been built around the sea. There is much to be done, but my parchment is waning. I will wait to tell you other news upon your arrival, which I will watch for intently.

In addition, though I would say it wise to bring ample supplies along, it will only slow the company. It is my recomendation that you come quickly, with pack, steed, and self.

Signed,Luincálë Audoin, servant to Isengard
