About Us

Lone Wing stables is nestled in the rolling hills and bluegrass of Lexington Kentucky.

Barns

Lone wing has 4 beautiful 30 stall barns. Built from classic oak. These barns are a work of art. A sound gabled roof allows for good ventilation without drafts. Each barn is equipped with automatic misting fly system to keep the barn cool and fly free. There is also a sprinkler system installed for safety and fire extinguishers every five stalls. Each barn has a tack room, feed room and small office.

The Stalls

All the stalls have drop down feeders and metal corner hay racks. The doors are sliding wooden doors that are half wood and half metal bars for ventilation and also so the horses can see what is going on around them. There are hooks by each stall for a halter and lead rope. There are also a blanket bar on each door. The aisle has six cross ties.

The Tack Room and Wash Racks

Here is nice airy room with plenty of space for the tack and groooming supplies. Each horse has it's own locker that holds all of it's racing gear and grooming supplies.
There are three outside wash racks and one inside wash rack for year-round bathing. In each wash rack there are built in tie rings and shelves for all the shampoo you will need.Sloped textured concrete floor aids in traction and draining. They are big enough to hold three horses and handlers safely. Both wash racks have heated water avaliable and multiple hoses. Each tie ring has a tie strap attached to it. On the wall side it has a bull snap and on the horse side it has a panic snap for safety.

The Pastures

There are about 40 pastures among the natural beauty here at Lone Wing.
Each pasture has a run in shed with fly misting sytem to aid in fly control and a 55 gallon water tank in each.
Out of forty about ten are stallion pastures.Theses pastures are slightly smaller than the rest but are the same as the rest. These hold 1-2 stallions each.

We have 20 main pastures. This is where most horses stay. There are 3-5 in each with the maximum to be 7 in each. horses in these are split by age and gender.

Then 5 are mare and foal/weanling pastures. Theses are slightly bigger and built for having the little ones in them. They are called weanling pastures because the weanlings stay while thier mom move back to the main pastures. The little ones stay here until they are about a year and then they shift into the main pastures also.
