Lightening Ridge Miniature Horse Farm is owned by Kristy and Dennis Vegter. Our farm is located in Haines City, Florida, although Lightening Ridge minis can be found worldwide. I bought my first mini, meant to be a pet, ten years ago after my first grand child was born. As the saying goes though, "You can't have just one!"
Living in Central Florida has been ideal for us because we are near several other trainers and breeders that have helped us learn about not just minis but also the business of minis! With a little bit of help from our friends and a couple years we had our feet firmly planted in the miniature horse world!
We have had great success in shows all across the United States but, as with any job, there also comes a lot of hard work and time spent. We have been very fortunate with our stallions, recieving National Titles that keep our name out there and our minis moving in the extremely competitive miniature horse business.
Our list of wins and trophies goes on but no reward is greater than seeing the actual fruits of our labors. We especially love raising the babies that are out of and sired by the horses we have trained and raised.
We are thankful to God, our country, and our family for the opportunity to keep on doing what we do best!
