Physical Description: V'rin is 6'2" and about 210 pounds and has a
well-muscled and fit figure. He appears to be the epitome of a dragonrider,
and well his family has come from the Weyrs for as long as he can
remember. He has a tanned complexion and rather sharp features that give
his face a rather hawklike and handsome appearance. He has closely cropped
black hair, that is easy to maintain and to which he usually doesn't give
a second thought. V'rin has an easy-going smile and it usually is what is
gracing his face.
Personality: V'rin takes being a dragonrider rider very seriously, after
all his family has been in the Weyrs for as long as he can remember. When
out on rider duties he takes them seriously and thinks through any
decisions before he makes them. When off-duty he's a genuine pleasure to
be around, joking with the remaining riders and anyone else who comes to
the weyr. He's generally cautious and doesn't do anything without thinking
about the pros and cons of his actions. He doesn't anger easily but when
he does watch out..he'll defend his beliefs to the bitter end. V'rin is a
staunch ally to those he considers friends and will look out for anyone he
comes across. He's got very good leadership skills and isn't afraid to
take control of a situation if the need arises, but he is also just as
willing to give advice and watch someone else put it into action.
History: V'rin is the epitome of a dragonrider through and through. He is
the son of two dragonriders himself. His parents were riders at Fort Weyr
before the plague began and decimated the ranks of the dragonriders.
Unlike most weyrbred children who were usually put in the creche and were
rarely looked after by their parents, V'rin and his siblings were raised
by their parents. Suranna and V'gal were truely in love and it seemed to
rub off on their dragons as well because Ellynth would never let any other
than Kirneth fly her. V'rin's family was a bit odd by weyr standards but
he enjoyed it. He learned all there was to know about the weyr and dragons
very early in life and knew that when his time came he was going to be a
rider as well.
Most of Vetorin's childhood was spent playing with other weyrbrats and
getting into as much trouble as possible searching every nook and cranny
of the weyr. When it came to finding out anything about dragons and thread
he was all ears though and paid better attention than most to the person
talking. Life was never dull in the weyr, and it was hard to be bored. It
was only until the plague started taking its toll that things started to
change in the weyr. Once the plague had made itself known at Fort it
didn't take long for it to hit hard and the number of dragons and riders
plummeted. The Weyrs were desperate for any clutches to hatch and Impress
and survive. Vetorin was 16 when he was sent to the sands at Fort and it
was there that he became V'rin when he Impressed the large brown dragonet
that announced himself rather loudly as Hyrth. V'rin couldn't have been
more excited or more scared for the plague was reaching its peak and he
was deathly afraid that it might claim his new friend. Luck was with V'rin
and Hyrth and his family as they managed to escape the ravages of the
plague and headed to the Southern continent to escape the plague and the
growing resentment of dragonriders.
Life at Southern was a bit different from Fort Weyr but V'rin and his
young brown took to it like they were born there. The number of riders and
dragons was smaller but that meant little to V'rin and he knew what needed
to be done as a dragonrider. V'rin helped with organizing different
parties in search of food and some more inconspicuous sorties that
gathered information from the north. V'rin quickly became known as a
reliable and trustworthy dragonrider who took his job and the welfare of
the weyr very seriously. The whole structure of the weyr changed though
when the Earthshake struck the weyr early one morning. V'rin had been
awoken from his slumber when the ground started shaking and Hyrth had
started shouting in his head. Hyrth had tried to warn others but there had
just been too little warning. Hyrth had noticed his weyr collapsing and
had stuck himself under the arch of the weyr to hold it long enough to let
his rider and a couple of others who'd been in the hallways escape. The
task had left Hyrth with scars on his back but none the worse for wear.
when everything had settled the devastation was catastrophic, most of the
dragons and riders were dead, including V'rin's family. v'rin didn't rest
and helped unearth the bodies of some of his weyrmates and it was only
when it was determined that there could not possibly be anymore survivors
that the brown and his rider finally backed away, saddened and exhausted.
V'rin and Hyrth traveled with the others to the new weyr, V'rin was aware
that he was one of the most experienced riders and gave his advice on what
to do. When Truth, their remaining hope for dragonkind was flown by blue
Wrath it was a most bitter pill for V'rin to swallow but he took it as a
sign that maybe that was exactly what was needed right now at least to
help dragonkind survive, and V'rin will do whatever he can to make sure
that happens.

Wingrider or Wingsecond
Honorific:
V'rin
Dragon Name:
Hyrth
Hatch Location:
Fort Weyr
Age:
12
Color:
Brown
Physical Description:
There is really one word for Hyrth...large. Hyrth is large for a brown and
is actually the size of a bronze on the smaller side, approximately 46 m
in length, with a wingspan of 56 m.Hyrth is a rich chocolate brown color.
He has swirls of caramel weaving across is wings and haunches. Hyrth is
well-proportioned and despite his size is rather quick and agile. His bulk
does make him slower but he makes up for that with his wits and
cautiousness. A couple of scars mar the browns back from where he helped
prop up the ceiling of one of the weyrs to help his rider and others get
out during the Earthshake.
Personality:
Hyrth is a calm, level-headed dragon. He often seems to know what is going
on in the Weyr before anyone else and if someone needs to know something
in particular you can be certain that Hyrth would know the answer. Hyrth
hates descension amongst the dragons and will do his best to avert any
inner weyr problems by trying to soothe "ruffled feathers." Hyrth
thoroughly enjoys his rider's good humor and will often carry on witty
banter with his rider.Hyrth finds it unusual to be following a blue but he
doesn't complain, after all it is for the good of the weyr. He knows there
is some discension and he keeps his eyes and ears open to spot it. One
thing he knows the Weyr does not need right now is internal trouble. Hyrth
is a dragon that everyone looks up to and he takes his duties seriously,
much like his rider.
