Common
Knowledge: All knows that M'gnus has been to
Fort for special training so he is very traditional in the way the Weyr
works—at least he knows traditional. He’d rather have whoever is a capable
leader, and as long as the Weyr is going along okay, he doesn’t complain.
Character Name: Magnus
Birthdate (age): 08.16.3296 (24)
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Southern Weyr
Current Location: Last Hope Weyr
Family:
Mother—died in earthquake, lower caverns
woman
Father—died in earthquake, brownrider
Brother—Leonim, weyrbrat at Last Hope,12
Physical Description: average in muscle, but
strong. He has light, short brown hair that falls to his ears in a messy
arc; he has two cowlicks that he won’t let anyone fix in the back. His
eyes are hazel and he is tall enough to stand many of the people in the
Weyr.
He’s not one for extremely formal clothes or garments;’ he likes his
uniform and collared shirts if he’s to go out…he does wear archer’s
protection when he fights Thread.
Personality: He is very warm, but he is still
a bronzerider. He loves to help others out, which seems different from
what he is, but he has learned that it needs to be done. M’gnus tries his
best to be different than the stereotype of bronzes but most of the time
he can’t help acting like one. He’s very good at leading because he went
away from the Weyr when he was a Weyrling to get extra training. That’s
also when he was sparred death that his parents got.
History: Magnus was born three turns before
Perone and lived a life in the creche with the other weyrbrats. He had
always shown an apparent knack for leadership, so others assumed he would
be a superb dragonrider. Everyone thought he would Impress a bronze, maybe
even a brown. He was also pegged as the one most likely to push away the
stereotype of the male riders. So, He kept growing and proving more and
more what people had been saying.
Soon enough he was placed on the sands. Turn after Turn he was looked past
and turn after turn he kept trying. He stood for Turns until finally he
was 20—the last age to be on the sands. The eggs started to rock and he
waited, watching each egg to make sure he wasn’t passed by. He was about
to leave as the last of the eggs had hatched when he felt a small head but
up against his leg. A voice cam to him that said, Mine! Why can’t I see
you?! A small bronze said. Magnus, now M’gnus, pulled a small egg shell
off of his dragon’s eyes and the small dragonet blinked then looked at him
in the eye, and tears came to them.
So, now M’gnus was a bronzerider, and he was sent for special training at
Fort during weyrlinghood, which saved him from the earthquake. When he was
training he got word of his parents death, which he didn’t care for, but
the only full brother he had was alive! So, he wanted to keep him close on
the move to Last Hope. Leonim rode on Rhyth’s back with M’gnus on the
transfer. He finished his weyrlinghood after that, then returned to Last
Hope for the need of good genes was obvious and it was his home. M’gnus
likes the leadership as long as the Weyr is going okay and the dragons can
do what they need to. Now the hatching is to take place and his brother
will be a candidate.
DRAGONRIDER INFORMATION
Dragonrider Rank: Wingrider
Honorific: M’gnus
Dragon Name: Rhyth
Hatch Location: Southern Weyr
Age: 4
Color: Bronze
Physical
Description: He’s big for his color, but not
the biggest. He has bright almost gold skin. His face is round but long
and even. Rhyth has a small neckridge that goes the entire length of his
neck, back, and thick of his tail. His tail is long and his wings are
large and made for stability and strength. There is a lighter coloring on
his spine and on the tip of his tail and muzzle that makes it seem like he
has stripes on his flanks.
Personality: calm, laid back, loves golds. He
is very sure that he is funny but has an ego to match a bronze. During
times when a gold has not risen he won’t hesitate to chase a green he
finds attractive. He loves to be a part of everything and sometimes will
seem rude or over excited. He doesn’t talk to any human except his rider,
unless they are special or it is an emergency. He is more of a brown in
the wing than a true bronze, but has leadership of his color, even more.
