Wingrider Krisania
Xari mistresskaira@gmail.com

Common Knowledge: It is well known that Krisania and K'tan are 'cheerful tricksters', but it's also well known that they know when it's not appropriate. The twins are known to very rarely be apart and where you find one, you find the other.

Character Name: Krisania

Birthdate (age): 03.03.3299 (21)

Gender: Female

Birthplace: Southern Weyr
Current Location: Last Hope Weyr

Family:
Father: K’ris, deceased, bluerider.
Mother: Tania, deceased, Cook.
Brother (twin): Kristan
(and an unknown number of siblings by his father)

Physical Description: Krisania is exactly the same height as her brother, this makes her a little taller than average. In fact, if it weren’t for the fact that the twins were a male and a female (instead of both female/both male) one would say they were identical twins. This is helped by the fact that Krisania has a rather small bust and makes no attempt to display this. Krisania, like her brother, is well muscled, in a whipcord over bone sort of way. Krisania has a pointed jaw, a small nose (on her it would be called a ‘button’ nose) and a fairly small mouth, though her lips are a little fuller than her brothers. The main feature of her face is her large expressive blue eyes, perfectly framed by thick, dark eyelashes, and thin dark eyebrows. Like her brother she has dark blond hair, which she wears as a short ponytail, though hers is a little longer than her brothers, and unlike her brother all of her hair is long enough to be tied back. Like her brother she has a reasonably dark tan (it’s Southern after all). The average day will see her wearing dark tan or brown slightly tight trousers, knee-high dark boots and a loose light coloured top (white (or very light tan/brown))(Think almost pirate-like). Krisania and her brother are either wearing matching clothing or at least contrasting outfits.

Personality: Krisania and K’tan are very close, so close that no one knows what they’d be like alone, they themselves aren’t even certain. No one is sure which of the two is the steadier, or which is the wilder because they don’t often speak to each other. Not in words anyway… Krisania and K’tan are mischievous pranksters yet they’re careful not to go too far, they seem to have some innate sense of when their ‘tricks’ won’t be appropriate. Coupled with this is their seemingly irrepressible cheerfulness and generosity. No one has ever seen them cry or even raise their voices with anyone, especially a child or animal. This cheerfulness isn’t infallible, the twins just don’t discuss their frustrations or negative emotions with anyone but each other. The twins dislike being separated from each other and being apprenticed to different trades was very difficult for them, but as a result they can function apart, though they still dislike to do so. Interestingly enough, now that they have Kayaranth and Kayarith, if someone asks one twin where the other is they can pinpoint the other without seeming to think about it.

History: Krisania and the then Kristan were born the first and tragically the only children to a Lower Cavern Cook at Southern Weyr. Tania was too small to comfortably bear the twins and unfortunately even with a healer in attendance Tania died to bring her children into the world. Krisania and Kristan were named a week before their birth, as was the tradition in Tania’s family. Tania organised what the children’s names would be if they were both boys, both girls or one boy and one girl. Also following tradition she named her children for both their mother and their blue-riding father, K’ris, who had caught the plague. Tania and K’ris had decided on the names together. The twins were only a sevenday old when their father followed their mother to the grave. The twins were pleasant babies, which was a relief to the crèche. The only time they cried, unless they were hungry, was when they were separated. So the crèche workers kept the twins in the same crib.

As children the twins were already very cheerful, but their ‘breakthrough’ came when one of the riders, an older bluerider by the name of Y’ran, played a prank on one of the crèche workers. He switched the book she was to be reading to the children (this ‘book’ was more of a collection of pictures than what we would consider a ‘book’) with a recipe book. This harmless prank caused no end of hilarity in the crèche as the woman actually read the recipes as if she was telling a fantasy story. The twins decided that these pranks were wonderful things and started to pull a few themselves… But, as most of the children had been told, they never bothered the Headwoman or Weyrleaders.

Unfortunately the twins discovered why it wasn’t a good idea to pull pranks on some people when they were almost eight turns. The twins switched a hide that one of the cranky old brownriders had been reading with a joke paper going around the younger folk detailing how to avoid loosing your hair… The brownrider in question was completely bald and took offence. He went to the Headwoman and demanded that the perpetrators of this offence be punished. The Headwoman, knowing that it would have been the twins who were responsible, summoned them to her study. She told them that the plague was killing a large number of skilled craftsmen so they needed to train more and to do that they were starting apprenticeships earlier than they might have otherwise. She added that as punishment for their ill-advised prank the twins were going to be apprenticed to different masters. Kristan would become a woodworker and Krisania would join the weavers. The twins were mortified. They’d never been separated for more than a few minutes now they were going to be separated for most of the day!

The twins eventually got used to their different crafts and, unbeknownst to their masters, they often switched places, learning about the other’s craft. Eventually they stopped switching places and settled into their respective crafts.

As weyrbred children Krisania and Kristan were naturally expected to stand for all clutches when they were of age. So they stood a couple of times before they were sixteen. At fourteen the twins decided that if they didn’t impress at this hatching then they wouldn’t continue to stand. As it happened they didn’t get to make that decision, in about the middle of the hatching two little eggs a little separated from the rest split open near the twins. Out of them hatched two identical little emerald-green hatchlings. The greens immediately chose Krisania and Kristan… Unbeknownst to most however the greens announced their choice into both minds… Their particular choices were announced again to the single mind they had chosen leaving the twins wondering, ‘did I really hear my twin’s dragon in my head?’. But Kayaranth had definitely chosen Krisania and Kayarith had chosen the now K’tan.

Not long after the twins impression a massive earthquake hit Southern weyr, demolishing it. The twins, now senior weyrlings moved to Last Hope Weyr with the rest of the dragonriders… Once there the twins graduated and settled into their own weyrs, right at the top of the crater in two weyrs with an adjoining ledge.
