"Indeed," said Tryanir, servant of Palis the Younger. "If 'twere not for them, Aglyn would
have been up to stealing sheep from blind shepherds!" The argument had drifted into a cacophony
of accusations and boasting.
"Perhaps you wish to speak further 'pon the matter outside!" raged Darren,  the grand nephew
of the aged warlord, taking deep exception to Tryanir's words.
"Perhaps you wish to stab me in the back while we're on the way out!" Tryanir argued.
"I just cannot begin to understand you lot!" came Leanna's own raging voice. An imposing,
willful but clever dwarf maiden, she was taller than most whom attended the conference. There
is much you all can do to better the lives of our people--an yet you are set to squabbling like
school children. Then if you are undecided, perhaps unwilling, to do your share, then all I can
do is to appeal to your common sense. This bickering must come to an end. Aglyn, these
wretched mines, the pasturelands, the caravans to and from the surface world--you cannot
see past any of this! Just for once--do something that will benefit the entire forest instead
of your purses. Do you wish for Tealdryn's return??" She spoke of the tyrannical overlord
who virtually ruled much of the underground forests. Of course, neither desired his return--
if he had not sided with any one of them. "You lot have enough to share 'mongst yours--" Her
words were silenced with the sight of Aldrin stumbling into the room. For a long moment, she
was the only one who noticed his entrance. He had been slashed in the neck by a wicked
dagger and could no longer speak his warning. Only until he fell dead to the floor was he
noticed.
